1967 Bronco- advise please

I enjoyed my floor shifter, but I hated the loss of leg room and maneuverability and just playing space to put junk.
I always enjoyed my smooth shifting three on the tree. Just thought it might be cooler to have it on the floor.
But it is absolutely not an easy job especially for a non-mechanic. With probably limited tools?

However, adjusting the linkage if necessary is a relatively easy job and requires only a few general hand tools and the willingness to get on your back under the truck for a little bit.
And likely get your hands a little greasy in the process!

Is that a difficult process? And other than it not being original, are there any other pitfalls to that?

Not too difficult but involves cutting a hole in the tranny tunnel and possibly modifying the shift rods to fit the 6 cylinder transmission. If you're not too mechanical it would be advisable to have a shop do it. As Okie and Paul mentioned, some people have issues with the shifter and their right knee! But the Duff one is angled better for Broncos than the Hurst version. I don't have an issue with my knee.

If you don't think you can rebuild your carb, you're not going to want to tackle that job. I'm in the opposite camp of Scoop, I can't stand the floor shifter moved to the side of the tunnel, I don't like it rubbing up against my leg. Maybe it's just me and the way I sit or something, but every floor shifter bronco I've bought, I moved back to the column lol. Purely personal preference. What state are you in?

I'm in the opposite camp of Scoop, I can't stand the floor shifter moved to the side of the tunnel, I don't like it rubbing up against my leg. I'm in TN, and I definitely won't be doing the conversion myself. I'm aware of my limitations & don't wanna screw up my Bronco. I think I'll leave it where it is for now, and focus on the fuel leak. That seems more pressing

There's already the shifter for 4 wheel drive on the floor, so I'll have to look up some pictures. I'd rather leave it on the column, unless it really would make driving easier. My dad said I just had to shift slower, so I'll focus on that. I don't mind getting dirty and doing the work, but I really would hate to mess it up.

Ive got one bronco with 3 on the tree and one that is moved to the floor. In all honesty I like both but the 3 on the tree just feels more like an original bronco to me. I would try and leave it on the column if I were you as it isn't really an easy task for someone not mechanically inclined. Plus you have to cut a fairly large hole in the side of the tunnel which to me isn't ideal unless it is truly what you want. I also wouldn't have a shop work on it that isn't familiar with broncos cause they may cut your hole all shotty or not get the linkage quite right. There are a lot of guys in TN that know a lot about broncos and some of them even have shops and could knock out your carb and shifting issues pretty darn quick. What part of the state are you in? My column shift bronco will bind up sometimes but it really is only hard shifts or in a weird position off road. I can always tell when I shift if its gonna bind. Doesn't happen often but is easy to rectify by crawling under it and pushing on the linkage from the bottom. Only really an issue when it happens at an intersection with traffic.

I'm still getting used to how much people stare when I'm driving the Bronco, so I especially hate when it locks up on me. I did make sure my dad taught me how to fix the linkage though, so at least I'm not completely at the mercy of others.

After I looked online to see exactly what a carburetor looks like, I quickly realized I am definitely unqualified to work on it.

At one time we were all unqualified to work on our Broncos. unless you are independently rich, learn or get rid of the truck to someone willing to stretch their horizons. You have all the help you will ever need at this site. No one could afford these 55 year money pits. what ever you decide do not swap the factory carb out a store bought rebuilt one will never be right.
