Thanks for the encouragement, I'm still a little disappointed with my paint gun setting skills skills but it's definately gotten better since the camper trailer. It's my son's truck and he picked the color but I wasn't sure about it until I shot it. It is MUCH darker than the pictures would indicate. The flash on the camera really picks up the metal flake and makes it lighter. I think it's going to look great in the sunlight. I wouldn't know because the sun hasn't shined for the last week here. If it pokes out today I will take a picture of it in the driveway and post it.

Bedliner

We had the chance to mask off the body and shoot the bedliner over the weekend. We used 2 gallons of SEM Rock It liner on the interior, engine compartment and bottom of the tub. This stuff is a lot easier than I thought it would be to apply. It is a little hard to see if you get true coverage in some lighting though and it looks like we went a little light on a few of the ribs inside of the bed. I suppose the worst case is I buy another kit and hit the bed again before I get it dirty.

I started color sanding this afternoon. The left side of the tub is done and it definately looks better. Hopefully I will get the other side done sometime this week and move on to some of the other body parts.

New Digs!

Winter hit and we got some tough weather in Salt Lake after the last set of pictures I posted so we slowed down a bit in January. Then the company I was working for started to take a big downward turn so I ended up looking for a new job. The short story is that I ended up relocating to northern Nevada and I had to rough assemble the Bronco and move. I think we are in the running for the slowest build in history at this point.

The up side is that the relocation came with a big upgrade in shop space. I have added a few pics of the shop when we moved in back in April and now that we have finally gotten most of it set up. The paint booth is back up and we are planning to start on the rest of the body panels while the weather is still nice. Hopefully, we will have this back together for the last time by December.

I'm glad I'm back at it too. I have to admit, this shop is awesome. It has a nice big pellet stove in the corner with room for a couple of couches and end tables....and my beer fridge. I'm not sure how hard we will really be back at it! ;D

Just what size is that shop? I can relate to not wanting to hit it too hard these days. I sort of like to relax and drink beer myself, which is the biggest reason I want to get my bronco in the done column.;)

Man, that is some awesome work and what a killer shop! Nice build and I know you'll be able to rock the rest of it in a place like that. Keep chuggin'! (the work, I mean)

It's 40 x 60 with a 12' eave height. It's literally 3 times bigger than what I moved from. Future plans are to add a 12000 pound 2 post lift right about where the bronco is sitting in those pictures. There's another 3 acres behind the shop for storage of future projects too. All in all, this has been a pretty good move for us.

It's a little smoky today from the Yosemite fires, but this picture gives the view more justice.

The really cool part of this move is that I have my son living with me for the first time in 8 years. I missed the mark with the schedule on this build and he's now about twice as big as I am and working as diesel mechanic out here. Here's a pic of him and my daughter getting ready to work on these panels. All three of us shot some primer today. Tomorrow, we cover more panels and start on the filler.

We finally managed to get the dents in the fenders and grill cleaned up. I spent most of this weekend wet sanding primer but we finally managed to get some color on the fenders. The tailgate and dash made it in for the first coat too. Hopefully we can get the rest of the panels through in the next few weeks.

Wow, more than a year since the last post... and since much progress has been made. I finally got a chance to get started back up last weekend and at least things are coming together some more. The left fender is really beating me, yesterday marked the fourth time I have shot color on it and it is still not looking right. I'm not sure what the problem is but I'll be really happy to see it done. I just can't seem to get this one right. It's funny since I haven't had to redo any other panel so far.

At least the doors are working out better. Sorry for the dark pictures in the booth.
