Hi Friends,
After getting a bogus turn signal switch with poor soldering (horn wire at spring broke when I picked it up to install after fishing it through column). Even though the vendor sent me a new one, I think I want to leave it as is and run my horn off of either a toggle or the washer pump switch. The problem is my washer pump is long gone. Not sure which wires are correct. There are a few wires hanging out by the driver wheel well. Specifically, two black wires each with a 90° elbow rubber female connector. If these are the ones my switch must be broken as I get no continuity across them when depressing the switch and no voltage when on acc or run when depressed.
If someone has a pic of the stock wires I would be greatly appreciative. Where do they come thru the firewall?
Thanks, Pete

I can get a photo of my stock wiring this evening if you would like. Mine is hooked up and working off the stock harness.

Hi, any help is greatly appreciated. At least let me know what color the wire is, where it comes thru the firewall and what the connector looks like.
From my switch it goes into a bundle and then disappears. I also have a pinched nerve in my neck and got stuck trying to find it under the dash! Fun times

Hahaha, I feel your pain. I have been pretty lucky with my Bronco. I don't know how may PO's (at least two, the one I bought it from and the one he bought it from) it has had but the original wiring harness isn't cut up. I have almost all of the original wiring under the dash and in the engine compartment. I had to rewire the back half though. Real simple using a heavy duty 4 wire trailer harness (colors even matched up) and Weatherpack connectors. I get off work in about six hours and will post the pics for you then. If you need any other wiring pics, let me know. Good Luck!

Just going from memory I think the washer pump wire is black with a white stripe, on my 71. I'll do some looking could have been green and black.

Guys,

Got off of work and did some more looking.. Up in front of the core support I found two wires coming off of a rubber plug; one black and green and one black. I hooked them up to ohmeter, hit the washer button and boom, continuity! Stripped them, hooked them up to my relay/horn and with acc. on, pressed the pump button and the horn works! Not the best option but will hopefully get me thru a safety inspection.

In MD now law states no historic tagged vehicles going to work or school. So I am getting it retagged with normal tags to avoid liability if I hit something or someone during business hours.

Those are the wires I have hooked up to my washer. Crude red line shows path to firewall.

Thanks. So the pump is in the bottle. Maybe one day when I get a new steering wheel that will work with the horn I will add the resevoir and pump and put the horn ba k to stock. All i hav now is a lonely pump hose still in original spot with no nozzles on hood.
Love the horn. It is from a Plymouth roadrunner. Beepbeep.

There is a hole on the bottom of the bottle the pump goes into. I didn't try taking it out for fear of pulling out the wires. In Texas you don't need the water to squirt, just need the wipers to function properly. I figured I'd get the washer since my wires were good.

No, I really appreciate the help. I googled the heck out of this and came up with zippy, so this was great. Not sure why the previous owner took off the reservoir as my truck is pretty original and came from a dusty dry area of California.
As far as running the horn thru this circuit, I assume the dash fuse
will protect it if there are too many amps from the horn.
