Alright this was really tough, hot sweaty and seamed like it was never ending. But I finally have color and clear on it! What a relief. I still have a lot to do to the paint, a couple runs, a few bugs and trash. But damn glad to be moving to the next step. My goal was to make it to Townsend TN in October but it's not looking good.

Here is the final stages of primer. All the parts hanging up.

The first issue with color, I did final sanding with 400 and I could see the scratches really well through the 2nd coat of base so I stopped and a painter friend of a friend agreed to come by and give an opinion. turns out he said it was probably fine.

Then a bigger problem showed up. Love bugs! if you don't know what they are they swarm the entire area for a month starting in September. I had just sprayed reducer to check my gun and...

IMG-20200902-111717680.jpg

Well after a little research I learned they become active around 10 a.m. so the next morning outside getting ready at 6:45 humidity at 100% around 7:45 humidity at 90% so I paint. I got the color on by the time the bugs showed up, great. Next problem, I have a 24 hour window to clear but not with this heat and humidity so up this morning and there is much less humidity at 6:45 so I sand everything with 800 and have to add a coat of base(I talked to the place I bought the paint) the 3 coats of clear on everything and 4 on the top of the hood. Tired and beat, back hurts but happy.

I still have to finish painting the cage and the grill(white) then I can start putting stuff together for good! Well after cutting and polishing...Oh yeah my wife was a huge help killing love bugs for about 30 minutes straight haha it would have looked like bedliner without her.

Thanks, picking a color probably took longer than anything else. Lots of flip flopping and second guessing.

that looks great!!! be proud of your work!!!
Thanks! Pretty proud even though there are plenty of flaws that I show to everyone for some reason.

Really sharp looking rig! Hope you make it to Townsend.
Thanks! Still trying but time is running out. If it goes together without fighting me too much there is still a chance.

Great color! Nice job, you're an inspiration!
Thanks! Great compliment.
that liner looks nice and clean...
Thanks, I rwally like how the Raptor liner turned out.

Love it love it.. Looks awesome

Looks Great!

Thanks!

Well we got hit by a Hurricane Sally last night. It was supposed to be a cat 1 but made it to a cat 2, it was supposed to be west of us but instead we got the worse side of it and it crept along at 2 mph causing major damage. Large trees pushed over or broken in 1/2 everywhere. Things look as bad or worse than they did for Ivan.
Thankfully the best I can tell the Bronco didn't get damaged. It has limbs around it and leaves all over so I may find some but it wasn't crushed. A Cedar tree next to it looks like it exploded. I will post pictures when I can. I am 99 percent sure super celebration is out but I am jyst glad it made it tgrough. We have a little over an acre and over 25 siginficant sized trees are down.

hope all is well!!

Thanks guys, everybody is good. The power will be out for awhile and we are dealing with insurance now. A contractor tarped our roof and now we wait on an adjuster.
Very lucky with the tree that fell on the house and carport, it didnt damage much. I will post a couple pictures when we get power.

Yep, pushed it out in the sun today while the tree was being removed. The color was glowing, love it. Very fortunate the Bronco wasn't damaged.

The wife looking over the damage in the backyard, it looked pretty nice back there last week)

Another tree on the other side of the Bronco. The 85' Sycamore tree(left side) actually lifted up the roots on the east side then settled back down.

Trees everywhere.

oddly enough I will start working on the Bronco again tomorrow We were told by our contractor to not start work until the adjuster shows. No telling when that will be.

We did remover the tree from the use and are getting credit for that.

No damage!

Best part everyone is fine. There is damage for many many miles around us and many houses are gone or destroyed beyond repair so we are fortunate. We do have one hell of a mess to clean up though.
