Your are partially correct. The (LAST) of the TRUE HI BOYS had a low pinion dana 44 with DISC brakes. The lock out hubs were huge and I think LOL the allen head wrench size to remove the locking mechanism was a 3/8" . Ford used three different dana 44 axles in the Hi Boys. Small wet knuckle(SHOE BRAKE), Large Wet knuckle (SHOE BRAKE) and the last was the open knuckle with disc brakes (dual piston). All are low pinion.
Some body whom is doing a resto mod on a hi boy would love that axle.

Best ever write up up on Dana 44/60 front axles,http://77cj.littlekeylime.com/web_rs44.html at one time he would pay a bounty for a picture of a low pinion 44 with disc brakes. I've seen tons of old 4x4's and heard about a low pinion 44 with factory disc brakes but have yet to see one.

Well if you ever get to Dallas Texas I can show you one.
And back in about 2004 I bought a low pinion dana 44 axle at a junk yard for $500. It needed a rotor and that was a pain to find.

The bounty was for a factory half ton low pinion 44, I can't remember if it needed discs or not.

3/4 ton low pinion disc brake axles exist, 76/77 I think, 77 for sure

3/4 ton high pinion 44 would be from a 78/79
