1976 Bronco Explorer Value

New to the forum and need some advice. I have found a 76 Bronco Explorer. It’s copper with parchment interior. 302 engine, power steering and brakes with automatic transmission. It’s a complete original truck down to the plug wires. Only changes are tires and battery. Body panels are straight and solid. Floors, rockers and inner fenders have some rust to be repaired. It has been sitting for about 20 years and needs a total restoration. I have done enough restorations to be pretty good at them as a hobby. However, all of my knowledge about valuation is GM. I would really like to get it and do a restoration, as it would be sweet when done. I’m thinking it’s worth about 15-20k, since it will take thousands of dollars and man hours to fix it. The guy that owns it does not have it for sale. However, he is willing to sell it to me. He mentioned 35k a year ago. I balked and circled back recently. He is now willing to negotiate. He knows he can’t let it sit outside any longer. It has been inside until the last two years or so. Thought I would see if the wealth of knowledge on the forum might be able to help with valuation of it. Thanks in advance for any help. Bill

Welcome to the Forum, A lot of experience here on the Site and most of us are willing to help, this place isn't like FB at all.
I can say that the cost of parts and services needed that you cannot do yourself, continue to go up. Your time and labor is what it is on a Project...
But if you know about doing restorations, even if GM based, it is the same. The price you agree to pay, could be based on that.
To be honest, given what Shimmy has stated about WA $$, it might be a little more than that here in CA.
A running driving Rig will command more $$ than one that has been sitting. Because in reality it could be a can of worms when you get into it.

Even though it is “All original” be sure to check all the VINs and make sure they match each other and the paperwork. A discrepancy there could greatly impact price.

Wow. That’s higher than I thought for sure. Thanks for the reply. I will work on Getting some pictures to post so you can get a better idea.

The Explorer package wouldn't have had a parchment interior. Explorer interiors were color keyed to match the exterior paint.
I did see some ford brochures that shows parchment was available. However, it could be wrong. I will get some photos tomorrow. Thank you!

Good point. I’ll check that tomorrow when I go back to look at it. Thanks!

Any guess isn't of a ton of value without a ton of pictures and detailed description. One guys has rust means full body swap and hundreds or thousands of hours and others are a few days work. 99.9% of all original claims are far from that. So post pics and a lot of the people here are happy to help.

I will certainly need some help to take on this project! Yes I am trying to estimate a
value, while considering what it will take to fix it. It’s a total restoration for sure. However, it has good bumpers, the grille appears very straight as well as all the body panels. The big thing is the rust. I always seem to find at least double from what I can see after the tear down. We are in southern Missouri and have very little snow. I don’t think it will be anything I can’t handle. I have a 4 post lift and will see if I can bring it home to check it out thoroughly. I will get some more photos soon before I go further. I’m doing a 69 Camaro RS now and the cost of everything is very high like you say. This will be next in the queue, if I can work a deal for it. Sounds like the values of these trucks are very strong. Thanks for the warm welcome! Bill
