2001 Ford Explorer 5.0 / 4r70w swap Help!

I have a '74 Bronco that someone has done a swap on that is a complete mess. They used the factory harness and ECU but it is such a mess and the transmission is not working that I feel I am better off starting over, than trying to sort this mess out. I am wondering what options are available. I was looking at the Ron Francis kit (MG-91E Ford 4.6/5.0 Explorer 96-01), but they are 16 weeks out. What other options are out there for a wiring harness? Also, is there an option to run a new harness and run a Holley Terminator X instead of the stock ECU?

What makes it a mess? I know from your other post you have a transmission issue that's more then likely due to a fluid issue or the trans needs a rebuild.

I've done a couple harnesses (Ford OBD1 and Suzuki OBD1) and all you really need to sort things out is a "pin out" as in a diagram of all the ECM connections.

I think you mentioned yours is a 2001 explorer harness. My guess is EFIGuy did the ECM programming (he does harnesses too but his work is EXCELLENT so I'm guessing he didn't do the harness). Find a pin out of the 2001 ecm. then remove the harness from the Bronco labeling all the connections as you unplug. Then start tracing and fixing any issues.

I've been looking at ways to control a '97 5.0/4r70w, and have been looking into the terminator X Max system from Holley, as a possible means to control the engine and
transmission. Something I liked about the Terminator X system is it comes with a new wiring harness.
