Steve, Mike, PB and I got busy on the ujoint and had it installed in no time. The natives were getting restless.....time to move to Terminator.

IMG_2407.jpg

Now Mike has done a ton of modifications to his Bronco since we last saw him at Pyatte Draw in Payson. His truck is looking and working great!

Ben getting used to his full width axles. His Bronco looks mean!!

IMG_2414.jpg

I was happy to see quite a bit of water in Terminator. Anyone can rock crawler, but get them rocks wet and you need to adapt and overcome! ;D I also wanted to thank 70_Steve for his help with the camera

The next major obstacle is White Line. I have never been a fan of this obstacle. With all the water in the hole it was a little frightening thinking about ending up upside down in the water.

PB took the first available bypass (no easy task either).

I decided to take Option B for the bypass. I needed to stay tight to the wall to keep from falling in the hole.

It always helps when you have a cheerful crowd

IMG_2435.jpg

Mike was up next. We thought due to his clutch antics and open front he would have more of a problem. So we hooked a cable to him for safety.

IMG_2439.jpg

IMG_2441.jpg

As it turned out he drove the $hit out of that bypass and didn't need the cable

IMG_2442.jpg

Ben was next. They decided to take the hole with the full width axles.

After some pucker moments from the carb, Ben came right up!

The bypass around white line really isn't much of a bypass is it? It's funny, I don't like going over white line, but if you have the right line, you just drive right over it. But the downside of that obsticle is pretty scary. I have seen guys roll into that hole, not a fun extraction.

I thought Taad was going in the hole last year. He had me scared!

Next up was the Z -turn on Terminator.... this is always a fun one for me.

IMG_2454.jpg

IMG_2459.jpg

As we got into position to make the turn we heard a loud "psssssssst!" I had lost the bead on the passenger front.

IMG_2461.jpg

We tried to jack up the truck in place to seat the bead, but we saw I took out the valve stem too.....

IMG_2462.jpg

We then pulled up to more level ground to get the spare on.....

IMG_2471.jpg

IMG_2472.jpg

Everyone was a ton of help! THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

IMG_2483.jpg

IMG_2484.jpg

All fixed and shiny....time to try Z turn again! :)

His persistence finally pays off

Greg, Good to see you again! Bummer I didn't get a chance to wheel with you guys. I jumped in and rode with Gordon Bailie on Thursday afternoon to see Kyle Malone's carnage on Cowtown. I finally made it to the very cool historic Crown King on Friday with the CA crew (about a 75-80 mile loop according to Gary's estimate in the BII) Then we did Predator (jeez you guys have great trail names out there!) on Saturday with the crazy Oklahoma Bunch. Just not enough days to wheel enough and get to visit with everyone!!

So, did Mitch my any chance put in for lower coil retainers in the raffle?! Can I steal your pic to sell their virtues? :-*

Suzy, I did put in for the retainers, especially after that night. PB was a big help as I think that spring came out at least 3 times. Instead of winning the retainers though, I won a free registration to OCBR this year.

Mitch,

Well, I'll make sure you get another shot at OCBR if you don't give in and buy them while we have them on sale or $64.95... ;) (Gratuitous plug)

Remember, even if you & Jeanette can't make it with a rig, there are plenty of seats to be had! So always consider that you can fly in and rent a car or just drive a rental car that gets great mileage to make the haul. I've seen the trip done many ways! We'd all be glad to show you around no matter what! Just remember Miss Christine will require a copy of your title of your Bronco if you want to register, she's a tough cookie! ;D

Thanks Suzy. Oh we will be there one way or the other. Jeanette made promises I am going to have to keep, so we will be looking for tour guides or empty seats come Sept.

moto do you mind if I steal the pics with my rig in them?

Ben you can use all the photos you want... i can even send you the full resolution so you can blow them up to poster size. All I asked from everyone is if you use my photos in a public publication (i.e. Facebook, Website, Forum, etc.) that you give me credit for the photo please. Photo by Greg Banfield or Motoman works too.

I've driven White Line when it's dry. And still have a strap on the roll cage just in case. But this year you are going into it with wet tires and would instantly slide into the hole.

I am glad I got to chat with you and your dad Suzy. Can't believe how many years it's been since Moab. I would love to come out your way sometime. If the finances improve I will do that for sure. I would love to photo document for your event.

As far as the photo use just throw me some credit on the photo if it's published. PM your email I will send you the full resolution!

Sounds like you had a great tour of Arizona on this trip. So many people have the illusion that Arizona is all desert. 2/3 of our state is high country with lush forests.

where is the moto videos.. .. o and see you at ocbr mr rags

stock1970 I am working on it. My first attempt for Day 2 netted a 38 minute feature that I can't figure out how to host it. The high res video is 6 GIG. I made a few DVDs to hand out to the folks who came to AZ Game and Fish OHV...... I think tonight I will just put together the individual videos. I want to crop out the crap and put titles and credits on them then post them to YouTube and Vimeo.

IMG_2565.jpg

I don't know who's off camber more here... PB in the rocks or everyone's head in this picture! ;D

IMG_2569.jpg

I had such a great time with everyone on the trail. Thank you everyone for assisting with the flat tire. No major breakage and only minor scraps. We had a fast ride back to camp. We were trying to make the raffle. We got back in time to buy a $hitload of tickets, ate some dinner and settled in for the raffle. By this time I had total lost my voice, fever, body aches and feeling just miserable. I didn't get any pictures during the raffle. Just huddled up in my jacket waiting for the aspirin to take effect. No luck for me this year at the raffle. Glad to see Steve won the hood and enjoyed the crowd cheering everyone on that won!

Thank you to all the vendors for their support. Thank you to Driven and ACB for a wonderful fun filled event!

Next ..... night run.....Day 3

Day 3 Night Run

After poking, proding, tequila, cold medicine and beer I was convinced to go on a night run. Because I was so out of it I opted to ride shotgun with PB. Departure time was midnight.....

Drivers were Justin, Mitch, PB and Dave. We did the culverts again, Nacho and the waterfalls behind Rock Springs.... we spent another 4 hours out there having a blast!

I took mostly video....but here's a few pics.

Dave coming up Nacho..... this is one twisty insane little trail!

IMG_2571.jpg

IMG_2573.jpg

Mitch ended up with a monkey on his front end.... PB was amazing at keeping his spring end while Mitch was moving forward!

IMG_2576.jpg

IMG_2578.jpg

Next the culverts... only pics...took all video

IMG_2580.jpg

The waterfall was next on the agenda

IMG_2594.jpg

That's it for the night pictures... I will get the videos up soon!

Now it's Day 4... total sleep since Day 1..........9 hours.....

Day 4... rescue mission

Day 4 I was hoping to wheel with Vince.... as this was the only day he could make it up. It was really apparent how sick I was so he opted to hang in camp with me. Well as we were making that decision I was swapping email addresses with Lora and Brian I got a call. I looked at Laura and said "Bet this is a rescue call". Sure enough the "dos Mikeys" had left the stampede and suffered wheel bearing issues on I-17 at the Table Mesa exit.

Vince and I loaded up some tools (Bronco hub socket) and took off south. Mike had already dissected the wheel bearing and realized they had come loose.

IMG_2612.jpg

IMG_2613.jpg

While we were getting the Mikes all fixed up we saw many post stampede Bronco families heading south.... had to call Mitch and give him major crap for driving right on by...... but then I remembered he was on every night run with me and only had 9 hours of sleep at that point too!!! :-*

IMG_2614.jpg

Mike suffered another heart breaking fail........

IMG_2616.jpg

All torqued down and reassembly was a piece of cake

IMG_2618.jpg

They headed on down the road and we headed back to the stampede. After chilling in the parking lot for a bit recapping the weekend, everyone helped disassemble "Case de Moto" and we went our separate ways.... wow was I tired! It took me all week to recover.....just in time for the AZ Game and Fish OHV exhibition.

Here's a link to the tons of pictures we took. Here's the list of peeps that had their fingers on my camera during the stampede
