I plan to eventually swap to an AX15, but that won't be for likely 3-5 years? In the meantime, I've noticed my 3 speeds leaks a decent amount at the shift linkages. Is it worth just replacing the seals/gaskets or should i just rebuild the thing? I'm debating investing any more effort into this than i have to and to be honest i'm kinda hoping for a quick "drop it out , replace seals and put back in" kinda situation. Everything shifts smooth and fine... it just leaks.

Shift linkage seals are o-rings, and you have to pull mainshaft to get the arms out of the case to change the o-rings.

If I were going that far into it, I'd likely replace the front and rear main bearings. Mine got super sloppy and it wouldn't stay in 3rd when you went to coast. Combined the goods out of it and another 3 speed I had, then it would pop out of 1st on a downhill decent. Found out the bearings were suspect all along.

do i need specials tools for this? I'm pretty mechanical, but there's something about rebuilding this 3 speed that has me intimidated. I haven't found any good DIYs on this yet.
