3 Speed Manual Steering Column Disassembly

I’ve opened up a can of worms and need some assistance getting the lid back on. It’s a ‘69 with a stock 3 speed on the column. I took out the bushings for the shift linkage to replace them and it looks like I have to remove the arms completely to install the new bushings and I figure there’s probably more in there that I can replace to fix my linkage getting stuck at stop lights issue.

I’ve searched and haven’t been able to find a good how to for disassembly and reassembly of the column. I’m learning as I go and by no means a mechanic. Does anyone know of a resource that can baby step me through this process, and maybe even show what parts to look closely at to see if they need replacing?

I am rebuilding mine right now. What I found was the tabs on the shift tube had broken loose. I had to do some careful welding and grinding to reattach them. Fixing those along with a new shift collar and shims/bearings hopefully will have mine repaired. I have it fully disassembled right now so I could pm some pics if you need them. I can’t post yet.

Check CB archive articles. I found those articles invaluable.
