302 engine block ports

I have a 75 that I am adding the serpentine belt set up on from a 2000 explorer. On the drivers side the engine block has a threaded hole which I would assume is for the oil sending unit. On the explorer timing cover right in front of the hole in the block is a thread hole. What is this used for

The passenger side has a thread hole just like the drivers side what is this hole for? Thanks

the passenger side hole in the block just above the oil pan would be were the battery negative cable would of attatched to the block, the drivers side hole its a blind hole if i remember correctly and i've never seen that being utilized ..

The tapped hole in the driver's side of the Explorer timing cover is blind. Probably used for something on the original Explorer but you can ignore it.

I’m guessing it was for mounting some front dress configuration that wasn’t bronco related

No such thing as an Explorer timing cover.

The tapped hole in the driver's side of the 1994 Mustang 5.0 (SN95) timing cover is used to support the original positive battery cable near the oil pan as it meanders from the starter to the driver's side battery. (same as a FOX)

But there is no such thing as a 94 Mustang timing cover either.

The F1SE-6059-BC timing cover found on the Mustang and Explorer is from the 1991 Thunderbird / Cougar.

(...I don't know or care if the Thunderbird has the same battery cable routing as the Fox. But I think it does.)

:cool: well, my "Explorer" timing cover isn't on an Explorer either, so there you go... Seriously, I've never seen an SN95 or a 1991 T-bird/Cougar engine up close and personal, but it makes sense (or maybe not, given their proclivity for changing things) that Ford would recycle that design for the Explorer when they needed to compress time and space.

Yeah, our old Broncos got lots of "recycled" parts...
