I have more questions than answers.
I have what I believe is a 79 302. This motor has a points dizzy with EGR and a pivot for a clutch w/pilot bushing. Did Ford use points in 79??? I have no history as to what this was used in. Valve covers had been changed Rod caps have numbers stamped but do not match to the cylinder they are in. I would like to get some more info on it, any help would be appreciated.

Block numbers.

Thank you in advance.

Look at the number on the dizzy. I think Ford quit using points after 1974.

No points in 79 but easily swapped in. block and intake are correct for 79 date codes are also correct on the rest of the parts many times casting numbers dont change. Cylinder heads are one thing i would be worried about as 77-79 heads are really poor pieces to have.
block is generic it could have been in anything the intake was first designed for the falcon/marevick line but again could be used in any application.
As for your rod caps are you sure you have the ford cylinder pattern correct? it is different from ch#vy

Thanks for the info. Had to double check the rod cap numbers. You are correct they are in the right order. Wanted to get as much info as I can. Wanted to use the crank for my 74. The bearings looked like they are factor and haven't been replaced so crank wasn't turned. Not going to use the heads. But good thing to know. That is why I asked. The dizzy was most likley swapped at sometime.
