I did not forget the Explorer 5.0, Because it is a Mustang 5.0 dressed up in an ugly station wagon. The only reason to run EDIS is to get an automatic transmission controller for free. Waste spark and coil packs are nonsense and garbage. There is no documented benefit to either, and there is a lot of empirical data that says it is "not better." Now that it is illegal to re-program your ECU and delete emissions related features...I never speak of "explorer." And everybody knows what I think of automatic transmissions. So there's that.
It's so fun to agree to be able to disagree! :)

EDIS- best upgrade for next to nothing. Nothing else comes close for longevity, dependability and endless 1" long blue/white spark.

Autos?- quote here0 "everyone knows what I think of "... manual transmissions. Wasted momentum, wasted torque, HP disappears at shifts, pretty much wasted in general for our use. lol

Couldn't resist, hope your having a good week James. I agree with the "ugly station wagon" comment tho. But ya know, Mustangs were ugly for a couple decades too! lol

FYI,
The fox body was sold as a station wagon a model year before it was sold as a mustang.

I agree!

It is worth noting that every town has at least one shop that specializes in automatic transmissions. The owner of that shop has a nicer house than you do.

The Anthony A, Martino Company made about, $450M last year repairing automatic transmissions. His net worth in 2008 was about $500M. You know him as AAMCO.

Ok Roney you did not forgot but still a viable option whether you approve or not. I respect your opinion on it.

. I run a 96 Explorer 5.0 in my own Bronco.
With an EEC-IV and a distributor, I presume, based on your prior comments?

You edited your earlier post about automatics - the original had a comment about your stick shift in it. Do you run a 4500? Or ZF? Or 435? I've already forgotten :).

a9l with TFI. You presume correct!

I will run the 4500 in the Boxwood Green one with an Atlas 3.8. Air Force Bronco got painted, and the new build started this week. Sorry for deleting the auto post. Didn't want to hijack the thread...

Yeah, I did swear I'd never run another C4 'cause I had to drive home for 30+ miles in first gear and I never even thought of running another one.

Maybe the AAMACO man has a ka-zillion dollar house but that just means he was a good businessman or a shister! lol I know a guy worth tens of millions and all he did was sue people. SO I Iike the AAMACO guy already. He could have made his zillions on cam phasers, settling lawsuits on 6.0 Pwrstrokes, or a hand full of other Ford screw-ups over the decades and I'd still like him. :)
