I came across this adapter for the distributor. I may or may not get it - we’ll see.

“Matthew shows you how to install the Temotion Crab Cab adapter and an MSD 8541 crab distributor cap on a Ford TFI distributor in a Foxbody Mustang. This part will work on any TFI distributor including the 5.0 and 351W versions, and the Edelbrock Pro Flo. After installation, the distributor assembly is 1.5" shorter and 1 3/8" smaller diameter giving clearance for aftermarket intakes, fuel rails, drop style air cleaners and other modifications that interfere with the large factory TFI distributor setup.”

It is roughly the same height and diameter as the points cap. Why you need something shorter than what cleared without the BL?

The vacuum collector on the bottom side of the manifold lands right where my fuel rail is. Any fix to this other than raising the manifold height with a spacer? I am trying to keep this under the stock hood. Can I cut the collector off?

Pictures show it offset..

3/8 phenolic spacer and it still doesn’t clear and the stock hood won’t close with the spacer on. I think I’m just going to change the hood out of scoop the stock one. I’ll need the 1” spacer to clear the fuel rails now. Plus the TPS on the throttle body is even taller than the manifold.

Or do I cut the “log” collector off the bottom and weld the holes shut…. Hmm decisions.

1” spacer installed and now the intake clears the fuel rails. Just going to give up and replace my hood or put a scoop on it now.

For reference the Explorer GT40 upper intake cleared without having to use a spacer.

Cool find! I am not seeing it available currently though.

I spoke to the guy he said he pulled it off the web due to the tariffs and fees since he’s in Canada. You can still order it - just need to give him a call.

The steel drive gear seems compatible with the later roller motors...

How easy is it to find that distributor cap if you needed a replacement when you are in the back country.

Where is it made?

And here is a story... Good buddy of mine has had me do a bunch of work for him on his Bronco over the years. New chassis and EFI wiring harness, new 5.0 motor, 4-spd to a 5-spd conversion. During the first test drive with the new 5-spd, the rig died about two miles from the house. No restart, with me checking for reasons why along side the road. Distributor wasn't turning .
Called him and asked about it, oh there was some idling issues so a local shop to him installed a new (Offshore) distributor from Summit. It lasted about 2K miles.
I had his rig towed home and I dropped in an old factory distributor I had from my fox body days (It was Fox body EFI system) Fired right up and I continued the test drive. (It was beyond the 1 year warranty for replacement...)
My recent experience with Off-shore components has created trust issues, buyer be where comes to mind. Chat with a Summit Rep and ask more questions about the part is my suggestion. Hopefully, they will have something to share.

Picked up an ECU bracket/mount from a 92-97 OBS Ford truck. Going to mount the ECU behind the upper intake in the indentation of the firewall like everyone else. Time to clean it up!

The fire wall behind the intake is a great location for the ECU. But if you would ever want to add Vintage Air. It will interfear with the VA evaporator housing. Just thought I would throw that out there if A/C is in your future.

Thanks for the heads up! What did you end up doing?
