Has anyone ran the cam out of a 351W 93-95 Lightning? Mine in my 95 pulls hard with 4:11 gears was wondering how it would do in my Bronco.

Thanks,

Mike

Not many run it because it was a flat tappet cam in a roller block. Most myself included want a roller cam in a roller block.

1993 Ford SVT Lightning
351w 240 HP had GT-40 heads, hypereutectic pistons and 8.8:1 compression
hyd flat tappet camshaft
Duration 200 int./214 exh. @050
Valve Lift 0.416 int./0.445 exh

That cam is a bit small. The explorer cam is bigger

Explorer F4TE-6250-BA Hydraulic Roller
Intake at 1.6 rocker ratio .422" lift 256 duration
Exhaust at 1.6 rocker ratio .448" lift 266 duration
1.7 rockers is .449 intake and .476 Exhaust
116 lobe separation

My '95 Lightning pulled hard and was Mass Air not speed density. Nitrous was "exactly" what a long stroke small block wants. And who was I to deny what my Windsor craved.

I miss it....it was perfect.

I still have my 93 lightning, black. It has over 200k on it now, when my son turned 16 I let him drive it. He put the miles on it, needless to say the back tires came back bald and the rear end is making noise. That will be next after I finish my 69 sport. It still fires right up, love that truck.

I have 257 on mine never had a valve cover off but its getting time oil pressure is about 15 psi hot so a build is coming still drive it 100 miles a week. Love it too!

I have another 351w so I was thinking of it going in the Bronco someday thus got me to wondering how L cam would do. I see Exp cam is bigger just know how well L runs, there is a bigger cam for L that will still run speed density wonder if its Exp cam? Got to go look :)

Ha

In 1980 When I was 16 i bought a 69 thunderbird for $450
It had a 429 thunder jet , same as the 429 cobra jet ,
I was a regular at the local junkyard buying nine inch chunks and used tires
