I have heard that you CAN use a 5.0 serpentine belt setup on a 351W. Can anyone verify this? What applications have you guys found this setup on that will swap easily on the EB? Am i stuck trying to find 351W serpentine setup? I am planning a wrecking yard run soon.

From BCBRONCOS website "Finally, an easy, affordable way to convert your Bronco's 289, 302 or 351 Windsor to serpentine belt and accessories"... so I believe a serp setup of a 302 will work on a 351. If you think about it, there really isnt any reason it shouldnt as long as 351 and 302 heads have holes in the same places.

I grabbed a setup of a 85 LTD. The two brakets mount to the heads. Ill try to take a pic in the next few days to show ya.I guess another issue could be how far the pulleys on the crank and water pump come out. But on the crank that could be worked out (i would go with a later balancer rebalanced to 28) and not being familiar with 351 water pumps I am not sure about that. But if the timing covers are the same for a 351 and 302 ytou should be OK to run the right wqater pump as far as that goes.

Steve

I'm setting mine up right now. I'm using the power steering pump/alternator bracket from a '89 full size Ford car. The bracket can be used on both the 351w and the 302. There are two bolt patterns on the bracket, one for each motor. If you are using the 351w water pump, you will have to use 351w pulleys on the crank and water pump. The 351w water pumps sits lower than the 302, so there's interference when using the 302 pulleys on a 351w. I'm picking up new pulleys from the dealer today to verify the alignment. Its surprising how cheap the steel pulleys are new from Ford.

It makes sense, why make parts twice. I will see what I come up with at the boneyard. I am sure I can find some kind of setup for cheap.

Did you use a 2 belt system or a single belt? I am assembling the serp belt setup for my Bronco now. Problem I ran into was using the 302 water pump and the 2 belt pulley off a 85 LTD. THe pulley was to wide and hit the pump - otherwise I have everything I need. Anyone running a 2 belt setup?

Thats what I ran into on mine. I had to get the correct pulleys for a 351W from Ford. I also had to fab up an idler pulley to get the belt to run around the water pump pulley. NAPA has grooved idler pulleys($15), but theres a fair amount ot work making up the bracket. I used 3 of the water pump bolts from the pass. side to locate a bracket. I tried it off the alt. bracket, but its too weak and will bend when you tighten it up.

If you use a 5.0 water pump you should be OK. The 351W water pump shaft sits lower than the 5.0, thus making the pulleys interfere. I stayed with the 351W pump under the impression that it'll flow more than a 5.0 pump.

To answer your question, I used one belt. Sorry for the long post.
