351W swap for a 302 with automatic

Looking to swap a 351W in for the stock 302 with an auto trans. There is no body lift on the truck. What problems can I expect? Would putting 2" body lift on be beneficial or more work than is needed?

Are you planning on EFI? Which Trans are you thinking of. A C4 would get a different answer as opposed to an AOD or a 4r70w.

The motor is not EFI and it is the stock C4

351W, Edelbrock intake, stock hood, no body lift= no problem.

cs-88, what air cleaner base are you running? Looks like you are running a drop base AND a short filter. If it's a drop base, how much space is there between the base and the lid? Obviously it's working for you, so I guess it's breathing okay.

There is no clearance issues with the throttle linkage? I have the power brake bracket too that looks like it could be a problem?

The air cleaner actually has a 1" drop base, but then it was hitting my electric choke so I ended up installing a half inch spacer which works out great with a 2" filter.

My throttle linkage was not a problem, but some guys convert to a cable.

Ultimately keep in mind that you're only talking about a one inch difference in height between the 351 and 302. The only thing I really did different was change from a 3" air filter to a 2".
