351w throttle linkage problem

I just swapped my 289 for a 351w. I am ready to hook the throttle linkage back to the accelerator pedal and realized the valve cover won't allow it. Does anyone have an easy solution for this problem? I have heard some people say a body lift will fix it. I would rather not do a body lift though.

I did mine by bending the linkage. Some of the venders (I think I last saw it in the Duff catalog) sell a revised bellcrank for the 351 swap

I've done both .
Bent the linkage and install a shorter bell crank.

I think my valve covers may have something to do with it. I have the edelbrock aluminum covers which are a little taller than most. When I muscled the accelerator rod through the firewall it wasn't moving more than a 1/4" inch and scratched the valve cover pretty good. If i bend the bell housing will it still have enough movement?
