What would you guys expect to pay for a running 96 351w with about 115k on it? Runs good and doesn't smoke, thats about all I can tell you about it.

Well - 4-5 years ago a friend pulled out a running 351w with 150,000 miles or so ; complete with everything but the computer . I paid $50 for it. After getting tired of tripping over it for a year in my garage floor another friend had a more urgent use for it so I sold it to him for I believe $35 . I figured I'd keep in step with my 401K :).
Now I'm not saying they should sell for that cheap - just in my local area we have a " Bronco Brother Hood Community" where we usually try to help each other out with projects . Of course there is always the occasional indiscretion or out right "what the Hell " .

Around here (SW VA, NE TN) they go for $400-500 if they are complete with all fuels injection components and accessories. I gave about that for mine and it was complete.

$400 - $500 at a reputable salvage yard, if it is pulled and loaded in the back of your truck.

I got my short block for $150 - I wanted GT40 heads, so that was the way to go.

OK, thanks for the input. A guy down the road heard I may be looking and stopped by. He wants $500 for it and I told him I really only wanted the block and heads. I am not going FI. Seems pricey but I am looking for something to build so I may pass on that one unless his price comes down.

He would pull it. Its my understanding that pretty much none of the serp pulleys would be any use to me for use in an EB, is that right?

It's all relative to what you want to do. I have a stock 5.8L serpentine set in my son's build with AC and air pump delete pullies. I moved the radiator forward 1" in order to keep the clutch fan. I think you could put a solid fan in and make it fit with a stock core support and radiator. The tensioner is kind of tall and we have 1" of body lift, but that's it. Sorry, I don't have a good picture but this kind of gives you the idea.

I'd pay extra to not have the yard pull the engine...but that's me. I needed an oil pan from a 460 in a van one time and the guy damn near ripped the van in half with a huge log loader type piece of equipment, damaging everything along the way including the pan. While somewhat disappointing at the time since I didn't get what I came for, it certainly was a hoot to watch.

OK, thanks. I have a 1" BL too so that would clear the tensioner? I don't want to move the radiator at all if I can help it. This would be a down the road project anyway but if I find a good deal on an engine I may pull the trigger on it.
