4G circuit breaker for mega fuse?

I just bought a 150 amp blue sea circuit breaker for my 4G alternator to use as my mega fuse. Is there anyway I can use it as a battery disconnect as well? The breaker is resettable so, I was think about hooking it up in between the solenoid and the battery, rather then between alternator and the solenoid? Would the breaker pop if used this way?

Thanks Tom

Lag Bolt, I think they are two separate issues. I don't think it can be done neatly. You went really high end with that circuit breaker. I think most people just use a MegaFuse.

I believe the preferred method is to put the fuse between the alternator and the starter relay. That way the entire system is protected, not just the battery.

See attached pics.

I don't think you could put that between the battery and the solenoid. When you crank the motor over you're pulling way more then 150 amps.

Some recommend 150 others 175. I used the 175amp Megafuse. The junk yard is full of 175amp megafuses in the Ford Truck/Suv aisle.

Just saw you are in Cape May. My parents are in Sea Isle. How you enjoyed the summer at the shore!

If you are doing the battery disconnect for security reason, there are a lot of threads on how to "disable" the vehicle from inside. I personally wouldn't try to get too complicated on the with this upgrade.

Efi guy said he's running a 150 amp breaker and at most it would charge a 90 amps.

It's great here in cape may in the summer. All I do is fish after work everyday. Lol. It's also prolly why I'm not done with this explorer swap.

A single-pole breaker (like that one) can't protect more than 1 independent circuit. If you put it between the battery & everything else on the truck, it will see everything on the truck as 1 load. You'd never be able to drain or charge the battery more than the breakers rating.

Amperage adds, so start adding each load you might put on the battery (NOT the alternator, which is subtracted in this case). A starter is designed to draw 140-200A normally.

A large winch can draw double that.
