The fusible link protects the wiring system from the battery and alt. The mega fuse only protects the alt from the battery. There is nothing other than the battery that can draw 130 amps except the starter and it is connected directly to the battery not through a fuse. But if the alt shorts the battery will clear the short or melt the alt and maybe make a fire. Also the alt will rarely draw even close to 100a. But if your big battery was very dead and you had everything in your EB on it could go up to 160a if your alt. RPMs were 5K. My bottom line is fuse the wire that feeds your EB and as a safety fuse the alt. also.
