yet to be determined
I have been looking at getting a new set of Boggers and Beadlock wheels. I am looking at either the 37 x 13.00 x 16 or 37 x 13.00 x 17. I don't want to run 15" wheels beacuase I have clearance problems with my knuckles and had to run wheel spacers. The 17's are 10 ply though. I want to be able to air these down and have them flex well. I am assuming that a 6 ply should flex better than a 10 ply. Am I right?? Any input would be great!!!

Probably. Just beware that the sidewall will be more susceptable to damage. I learned it the hard way. I use to run mine at about 5 lbs. and you could see the sidewall flex under torque. That was great until I ripped one open by pinching the sidewall against the bead. I know run them at 7 or 8 lbs so they do not flex quite as much.

I doubt the 10 ply will flex much at all but the boggers usually have a fairly soft compound on the threads so they dont need to be aired down otherwise the 10 ply should have good puncture protection.

It's gotten to the point an old timer as myself doesn't know what is what anymore . Tire ratings for example , oh yeah ,I know it says 10 ply rated but is it it really ? You read the nanofine print with a magnifying glass and suddenly what was , isn't anymore . Oh , I see, we are going by load ratings now , A through ZZ and speed ratings plus wear ratings to calm the DOT or Consumer Reports . Used to be a 10 ply was for heavy trucks or trailers , 6 plies were for hard riding pickups and 4 plies were for passenger cars . Sorry I got off the subject but my CRS disease does that from time to time .

FWIW, I was wheeling in the rocks a couple weeks back with a mixed group of vehicles and one guy had 42" Boggers on an F-350 (cab only..open frame) and even though he only had something like 6 psi in them, they acted -and looked - like they had 50 pounds of air in them. What I don't know is what ply rating they were..but they sure were stiff so I'm guessing maybe they were 10ply tires. IF they were 6-ply, then I would really hate to see how stiff the 10-ply version is..it was almost painfull to watch that thing hammering on the rocks (he was game though ;D ). And that is defnitely a heavier vehicle than an EB, even with no bed on it.

I'm running 39.5 IROK radials and at 6 psi, they wrap themselves around the rocks like jello.

;D ;D ;D With 10 ply tires on a bronco they would ride like solid rubber tires and that would suck big time.   Bill  %) :p

Back in the day.... Mud tires only came in 10 ply. When you put a light vehicle on a 10ply tire they don't flex at all. I can't tell you how many times I drove around trucks on 44 inch boggers with my little CJ on 4 ply 31x10.50 tires.
This was at the sand dunes near glamis back in the late 80s.
