Sorry for late update I missed the response. Anyway here it is. FYI the hood vibrates like crazy and literally has a 'rip' in the center not to mention 6 stress cracks at the braces. Not that it couldn't be fixed but it's the worst part of the truck (along with passenger fender which looks like somebody tried to push down a tree).

So........ It could go either way. My hood doesn't have the recess on the front cross brace, and there aren't holes on the cross braces like your pic. But it does seem to look a lot like the "newer" example Camp9K posted. Thanks, for the info.

I have this same hood on my budd body 66. I bought it last year from the second owner who owned it since 68. It was traded in at the local dealership and the second owner worked at it and bought it. It had a hood and tailgate issues, so the second owner talked the store owner in ordering him new ones.
I believe yours and mine are both 68 hoods.

Perhaps? But I lack the front to back brace and just have a small plate

Gotcha thanks. Just wanted to ensure there wasn't anything too important about my beat to #%*£ hood. Sounds like replacing with a newer model won't make the truck awkwardly unoriginal. Thanjs

That has to be a later hood, it is clearly not designed to hold the weight of the folded down windshield. Thus, the piece of wood.

In the end, it's your truck. If you are going for a 100% original restoration, you'd want to keep it or find another. I've seen less pics of your style hood than any other, so that would be difficult. If you just want a good looking truck that you can drive around, get a new hood. No one will ever know, except us '66 nerds'. I promise I won't tell anyone.

BTW, Steve Wisler from Big Sky Broncos sent me pics of 3 styles of 66 hood that he is aware of, and your's is one of them. Sorry I managed to delete the pics before saving them. Here is another pic I took off this site at some point.

You asked about fenders? Oval makes pretty good repop fenders, everyone that has bought them has said good things about them. If you want NOS (new old stock) expect to pay 400-500 per fender
