Like every Bronco bleeding die hard I have always wanted a Stroppe. I planned on buying one this year with the intent of buying a survivor and doing nothing to it. That didnt go so well. I looked and looked and just couldnt find one under $20k that didnt need what I would consider more than a little work.

I decided on a 72 that my bud Tom had sitting in his garage collecting dust. Poor Stroppe just sitting there for years waiting for someone to bring it back to life.

Anyway Started tearing into this weekend. Some pics as purchased and then after about 7-8 hours of work this weekend. Pretty much tore down and removed most of the abortion of a floor pan install buy some previous owner (not Tom). Anyway put little work in. She had 3 gas tanks. The 3rd sure looks pretty good. Does not look like some hack installed it. looked very professional.

Body coming off frame in fall and then to paint in the winter / spring.

This one is a manual Stroppe. Kinda unique in that aspect. Doing the hurst floor shifter like Stroppe on it. 2 new front rolled fenders, doors, replacement tailgate and the floor work. Just a little project.

Enough typing. Everyone likes pics....

Rich,
This will be a great addition to your collection. I am curious what your vin number is. I had a 72 Stroppe with the same limited options that yours has. Just wondering if your was in line with the one that I owned. Mine was vin # U15GLN65025. I have been told it was one of the very few that was sold on the east coast.

Very nice! Subscribed to this thread - looking forward to the progress. Did this truck have bumper braces, padded steering wheel or roll bar?

Bumper brace pic attached. Yes but I'm told there different but same as some Stroppes (less common)??

Steering wheel I have one but not sure if its original.

And roll bar yes .. It's in my basement ;) although I think it had a different roll bar than the one that came with it. I don't see any holes in the rear floor by the tailgate for the standard Stroppe cage. I have the standard Stroppe cage.

Ill post some pics of the floor later this week (cage holes) She is up on the lift now :D

Interesting - I've never seen square tube braces before. Looking forward to all the pics!

Very Cool that you are getting some work done on it! I didn't notice the 3rd tank last time I saw pics of it. Mine also had that tank but it was gone when I bought the truck. When you get a chance I would love to know the distance between the mounting bolts. I also wonder if you have a switch on the dash to change the gauge from the aux tank to the 3rd tank?

A little off topic, but how tall is the inside of your garage? I have a little over 10 feet but I didn't think a lift would make it. It works if you put the windshield down obviously

Rich,

I see this truck originally left the line 17 days behind schedule. I hope you can complete your build on time! :)

Looking forward to watching this one progress. If your first few efforts are any indication, we'll all be in for a treat!

Garage is 12'. I installed a 4' x 8' recess hole at the top for my roadster... Windshield will recess into the ceiling so I don't have to mess with the windshield. The top of the lift will be the parking spot for my roadster when all is done,

Distance is 16". I already measured because I think I'm going to restore and reinstall (and will need to put holes in the new floor pans). I love the old vintage upgrades.

It has a 3way manual valve under the seat (replaces the 2way). There is no level sensor or switch for the dash. The tank doesn't have a level control. Just fill line, line to 3way valve and a vent line... Guess they just knocked the tank back in the day or ran it till it was empty and switched to one of the other tanks??

Looking good! Subscribed for sure! I love the garage too. On a side note, did that truck come out of NC by any chance?

That's awesome! Did the remote side mirror survive all these years?

Small world I guess. The NC owner came up and bought some stuff from me several years ago for the truck. I remember him saying he didn't even know it was a Stroppe until he started sanding something down I think and noticed the color scheme. I recognized the truck and the seats he picked up from me.
Can't wait to see what you do with it!

I'm watching too!! You must not have many "honey do jobs" to get so much accomplished! I enjoyed watching your U13 build and this one will be better!
