Advice on gears

I've decided to strip my 66 for parts.
I know it has 4.11 gears which I would like to put into my 68.
The rear pinion has some slop in the input bearing.
Would I be better off just buying new gears or should I try to pull the gears out and swap them into my 68?
Or should I just wait till I get a 44 for the front and buy gears then?
