I'm considering purchasing an aluminum radiator fan shroud. Wild Horses sells one, anyone else ? The WH Al. shroud "full circle" shroud looks nice, just looking to see if there is anyone else selling a similar item. Thanks

Ron Davis sells a fan shroud... In fact WH's used to sell them. They are not off the shelf, special build, call and ask them. Mine was 2 week wait to be built, probably 4-5 years ago. And they are not $200.

I have bought a couple of WH's shrouds, work well with Explorer front dress swaps with a factory 3 core Rad.

One inch body lift on my Bronco isn't much but will it effect the clearance of my fan from the "full circle" shroud? On the BC shroud was the "modified top part" special ordered as an option? Have you noted significant increase in air flow from using the new shroud? As I mentioned my Bronco has a one inch lift - is it likely I will have to do any modification to install the shroud? Thanks, John B

Probably a 90% chance you'll have to change how the shroud mounts.
Some, perhaps with less lift or a smaller fan maybe(?) do not have to do this. I did not with my setup on the '71 but my lift is about 3/4" and that may have made the difference.
On the '68 the shroud had to be lowered 1" to match the fan.

With the body lift, the radiator moves up with the body but the fan stays with the engine. If there is clearance for that 1" change, then there's no problem. If the fan is too close after the lift, then you need to space the shroud back down.

When 904Bronco built it he makes this super clean mod that only requires a couple of new holes in the top plate, and a 1" spacer for the lower plate. I changed it around slightly and used the original holes on top and added a second matching 1" spacer to the top as well to match the bottom.
Works slick either way.

It's an easy mod that just about anyone can do.
If you were talking about a 2" body lift, there are separate fan shrouds that already have a different profile to fit the taller lift.

I have 1" bl w/ explorer front dress. I have AC, and my radiator is moved due to my tight tolerances with the PS box being mounted inside the frame. For these reasons, I could not get a full circle to mount around the frame. The stock plastic explorer's shroud would not work. I found the half shroud by Champion Radiators worked nicely in fitment, didn't have to cut anything, and it is adjustable. Mounts with hard black plastic cable ties designed like factory OEM. Easy install too.

Paul, WH also has a Al fan shroud for a 2 inch body lift. Any chance that 2 inch lift shroud could be adapted for my one inch body lift easier than lowering the stock height full circle Al shroud? Thanks, John B

I used the WH/Ron Davis shroud on a Champion Radiator and an Exlporer dress and fan. 1 inch body lift. Since I had to put a new core support in anyway, I mounted the radiator square to the center of the fan and it was a perfect fit. Looks great, fits perfectly and keeps really cool.

I'm sure it could, but I doubt it would be any easier. In fact it would likely be harder. Instead of lowering it 1 inch, which is a pretty straightforward operation, you'd have to raise it 1 inch, which it seems to me would leave you with a funky looking high-rise shroud with the top flange sticking up.
It's easy to seal with an aluminum strip, just like lowering it. But you'd still end up with a "high-rise" shroud which to me would look out of place.

I've suggested for years that we should have a dedicated 1" shroud, but making them in three or four separate flavors is not as desirable from a business standpoint as making just two part numbers that can then be manipulated by just one inch to fit the four different heights.
But with the popularity of the 1" body lift, I think that it justifies it's existence now.

That, or just include the two 1" wide aluminum filler strips for the "1 inch option" model.
I remember a year or two ago a member here said they got aluminum strips with their shroud. But I didn't hear anything about that being a running change that was going to be permanent. Anyone else get them in their kit?

Not sure how it's gonna work/fit, but I ordered a champion aluminum rad, their aluminum shroud and the electric fan. Will post pics if/when it fits without a bunch of mods.

My best shroud was the fiber original. It was made of a fiber material for a reason. A fan can engage the shroud. A fiber shroud will damage a the fan a lot less. I'm convinced that's why Ford did it.

But the composite shrouds are a little too weak for our application. I think a better solution is the plastic explorer fan with an aluminum shroud. Pulls a ton of air and plastic/aluminum are forgiving.

Here is my final shroud for now. It is a half + shroud from Champion Radiators, same for the radiator. This set up is due to all the mods I have had to do to get a reversed radiator to fit.
1. Inside the frame location for PS box (F 100 type)
2. Explorer Serpentine front dress
3. Dual battery set up on Passenger side
4. AC compressor
5. Making room for AC condenser in core support
6. Room for hydraulic RAM below fan / radiator

I wish I could get the fan into the shroud more, but it can't be done at this point. We will see how it runs hopefully soon.;D
