33 years here! Bought her from a guy in No. Hollywood who had a broken leg. $2,700.00 out the door.

Just thinking about the money I would have saved, if I would have just kept the first one I purchased. A 77 Ranger in 78 for $5200. Five Broncos later a 76 in 2011 for $10500.%);D

Congrats! 39 years is a long time.

26 years for mine, although I don't recall the exact date of purchase. A work friend needed a vehicle for the CO winter, but knew he was being deployed soon after. So he and I went to look at Broncos together and decided which one to buy. He bought it, drove it all winter, then I bought it from him for what he paid (he kicked in the repairs for the few months he owned it). I've had it ever since.

I think I bought my 72 in 92 or 93. I overpaid at 5k. I think I've replaced about everything besides the body and the dana44. I did replace the gears and carrier in the 44.

Hi, I've had ownership of my 66 half cab 31 years, since 1988.
But I've driven it since 1971 when I was 11 years old.
My Bronco was one of the work trucks at Hempstead Lincoln Mercury, where my father worked. That is where I learned about auto mechanics.
The worn out and sorry old Bronco was basically shot.
A new Ranger pickup replaced it in 1985.
In 1988 my father told me the owner of the dealership was talking about "getting rid of it" and that I should go get it. So I went there one day and drove it home with their dealer plate.
And that's how to score a Bronco for free!
Good luck

I’ve had my ‘77 for 22 years, within about a week. Took her for her first ride to town today since I got her back together. All went well until the hood latch let go. Now it’s back to the shop for hood, door window frames, and who knows what else. Maybe some day it’ll really be back on the road...

Oh no! Haven't heard a hood latch story in awhile. Sorry yours was the latest.

There is some good news here though, if you care to look at it that way. There are at least a couple of members here driving with the hard tops off that got whacked on the head when the hood flipped back so hard it bent over the windshield frame!
One got knocked cold momentarily and his passenger (wife I think?) had to steer the Bronco to the side of the road. Lucky he wasn't solo that day!

Still, sorry to hear about your misfortune on your first run.

Paul
