Has anyone made a transmission jack that actually works? I tried using the trans jack adapter that harbor freight sells, but the POS is way too tall to be of any use. Id have to lift the bronco over a foot off the ground just to slide the zf tranny under the frame, and my bronco sits on 35's.
So Im looking for ideas of homemade tranny jacks. Post up pics if you got em.

Cut off the top of your tunnel and make a removable cover, then you can use a cherry picker to lift the tranny from the top. If you don't have access to a lift, then use ratchet straps down from the roll cage.

I'd like to see some too...I used the HF one...it was a pain!

I ended up laying the ZF on its side, jacking up the Bronco about 6", sliding it underneath the Bronco, putting it on the adapter, sliding that onto the jack...all by myself:(

It worked but was not pretty!

Yea Tom, Ive looked at that jack. It would be nice, but I dont want to spend $100 bucks right now. Hoping to fab something up cheap that will work well enough to get this tranny done.

I took a flat piece of 1/4" plate. Welded a round stub to the bottom that fits in my floor jack where the pad goes. I then welded tabs to the four courners of the plate so I can use ratchet straps around the tranny. Works pretty good. Used it to pull my ZF last time.

Have you used this one?

Its the lowest to the ground I've ever seen. I've used it a time or two. Nothing will be perfect. This helped more than anything else I've ever used. Mine is currently at Matt's house. Matt got it from Steve. Its traveling around Socal, putting in OD trannys.
Tom

I have the 800# version from HF. Works good but need a block of wood under it as it will bleed down overnight. It works so much better then the jack adaptor.

I once made an adaptor for the D20 by simply welding scap to the jack in the right places. Lot less wobbly then the adaptor POS
