anyone run no weather strip on doors?

I've got fresh paint on my 69. The doors aligned and shut good without weather strip. I put on the weather strip and the doors don't close worth a darn. I've tried to adjust them and its turning into a mess. They are hard to shut and not aligning very well. I know the weather strip will smash down some over time. Does anyone run with no weather strip? My thought is it would whistle and rattle going down the road? I run a safari top only and eliminated the hard top. Good weather vehicle only.

Metro and Steele make real soft weather stripping.
Adjusting eb doors can be tough. Lots of threads here on cb about it.

I just put some on the front and back of mine until I repaint,I think it was just some old stuff I salvaged off an old truck. It keeps the rattle down and they close pretty nice.

My doors were nearly perfectly aligned before I put weather stripping on last year. I got so frustrated by that, that I pulled the hard doors off and put the tube doors back on (it was approaching summer time anyway).

Without the weather strip I did not have any door rattles but there was a bit of air coming in around the edges at speed. Not terrible but you noticed it. My rig is primarily a nice weather rig as well but I want to get a hard top eventually and use my Bronco year round, take it to the snow, etc. I am not looking forward to fighting to align my doors again (something I'll be doing soon). One suggestion - pull the strikers off and align the doors without it. It helps and I got my doors fairly close that way. It is just frustrating to spend good money on repro seals and have them screw everything up. I may yank them and try another vendor.

I don't run weather strip on my doors - only a piece between the window frame and windshield to eliminate the rattle. I think it works fine.

I put in weather stripping on fresh clean paint and it stuck very well but I apparently cant help but drag my heel across if and tear it up. I eventually tore it all off and run without it. I left that big top rubber part at the back of the doors and they don't really rattle much and I haven't really noticed that the weather striping accomplished all that much running a soft top anyway.

I am running without any until I paint it (if I every do). I have new OEM strips on the shelf but can't bring myself to install them before paint. I get wet when it rains, cold when its cold out and the wind is loud in general. I only run my hard top a few months of the year so its not a big deal to me.

I put new upper n lower door seals on about four yrs ago and they just this past summer got soft enough to shut fairly easy. At first I had to slam so hard I thought I was gonna burst a glass out!

Came from a vendor at top of the page ...never buy rubber seals again unless it's the two that B-nut73 mentioned!

I've seen lots of Broncos without door seals because of the hard seal problem. I can live with a bit of slamming to keep the weather out. Actually, the price of window tracks is low enough to live with the slamming.;)

No seals. No rattle. Only notice air when cold but heater makes it hardly noticeable. I bought metro seals but have not installed.

I got Metro seals from Amazon. The Metro seals are much better/solfter than the seals the vendors sell.

search these on Amazon. Free 2 day shipping for Prime members.

Don't need them for a fair weather rig. Here in Colorado they made a big difference during the winter.

Same experience here w/ door seals bought from a vendor advertising in the center at the top of this page w/ an 800# in their ad.

I just got done w/ a major top rebuild project, new & more bows, insulation, new paint inside & out, new custom headliner. This was major process that I spent 100's of hours on very meteculously rebuilding / restoring and making better. After getting the top lined up very nicely, and already perfect fitting & aligned doors, I out all new rubber seals on ALL of the doors.

The problems started when the rubber for bottom of the rear hatch door didn't fit as well as I thought it should. I worked and worked and modified the rubber w/ some shims to finally get a very good fit...next onto the front doors.....disaster!
I installed the new upper & lower rubber for the front doors. Before getting serious about sticking everything together for a "final fit", I pre-fitted all of the new rubber and checked all the clearences...it all looked good. I made sure both screws fit perfectly for the front & back upper sections of the lower rubber, double checked that my fit was good in the transition area between the flange and the one-side glue only area's where the bottom of the door frame radius starts up. The only thing I couldn't ck before putting everything in place one final time was the compression fitting w/ the doors closed before glueing it all in place.
I glued everything in place, and all aspect of the new rubber seals fit perfectly.....because I spent so much time methodically pre fitting everything before glueing the final time. I actually taped off where the beads of 3m sealer would be....very, VERY anal about getting a perfect fit. I wited for everything to fully dry in the shop overnight, and then came back the next day to shut the doors.....OMG. I'm not just disapointed, I was pissed off! These POS rubber seals they sell are JUNK. Fast forward a couple more days, then ripping everything back apart again, screwing up my new paint job, waiting another week for new rubber to be sent to me from another vendor, then repeat the whole process over again.
My advice. Save yourself a HUGE headache and buy the proper seals to begin with....and even at that they are a major, MAJOR job to install perfectly.
