I'm restoring a truck that had the engine compartment sprayed with that rubberized undercoating, i use this in the wheel wells, works well. I'm debating taking it off so I can repaint it, or just leave it and throw a fresh coat on. Doesn't look bad to me, but I want this to be a nice, 15-20k truck. Anyone have any pics. of a nice engine compartment with some sort of undercoating? I'm not talking about rhino lining or line x.

What's the temp rating of that stuff? It would suck if it melted or caught fire. It seems kinda soft.

my dad did with no problems but make sure you cover or tape off everything. He got some on his freshly painted valve covers and air filter.

the exhaust runs under the body where this stuff normally is and I never never heard of problems but could see some potential.

I don't see a problem with doing so, but if I were looking at buying a bronco in the $15-20k
range (or any price) undercoating under the hood would be a huge detraction for me.

True. For a trail truck Ok, but for a high dollar rig, nice clean body-colored paint would be nicer--just my opinion of course.

Yes I have it in mine I like it but wouldn't want it in a nice truck I'd say my truck is worth about $6500. not 15K..that kind of truck needs to be painted IMO...
....I HAVE it on the inside of my 1/2 cab for sound and dust control mostly. I thought it might get on clothes and shoes so I just put black carpet over it ...My Brocno it very quite inside ..

I don't have the rubberized undercoating in my engine compartment but I do have it on my floorboards and inside of the tub. The passenger side long tube header runs pretty close to the passenger floorboard near the tunnel and, yes, the stuff melts! :(

It melted and got on my wife's shoes last time we wheeled (MEB Snow Run last month). So now I need to either insulate the floor or install some sort of heat shield AND buy my wife some new shoes! :(
