Anyone ever see the TV show BLOGCABIN? Its on DIY I think. Anyhow, people from all over the country voted on how they wanted this log home built. You know, everything from what type of roof to what type of flooring. Then the home was given away. It is a very interesting show but would be even better if it were done with a bronco. Maybe someone could narrow down some options and have the forum vote on how they want it built. Maybe it could end up on SPEED or Outdoor Life Network!! Who knows. Great idea. Might even be a good teaching tool for us noobs.

OK, how about this. Have either a ebay auction or a raffle and take the money and donate to some kind of children's hospital or something along that idea. I would love to have something that the brotherhood put together, BUT, in the end helped a worth while cause. There are no better people than EB people. I have a Bronco that i would donate to the cause, but i really don't have the time or the knowledge to get top dollar out of such a project. With the right people behind it, we could make a big difference in somebody's life.

It would be cool if were Perhaps The Baja bronco Paint scheme with different colors though. Like Blue/Dark Blue/Tan to match the website. Just an idea that I htink would be cool.

We did something similar a few years back on the So Cal Broncos site. A bunch of us had some pretty big parts piles so we all donated a bunch of stuff for one of our member's nephew to put together a Bronco. The "Monkeyboy Project" started mostly with donated parts, but as they got into it they decided to upgrade some of the stuff to better components than what was donated (for instance an automatic instead of the pile of 3-speeds they got, and a D44 rather than the several D30's that came their way). So they did have some money in it in the end.

I've often thought that you could put the parts piles from just a few people together and build a few complete Broncos. If you want one with a D30, manual steering, 3-speed and small bearing 9 people will practically pay you to take that stuff off their hands.

BTW, if this did turn into more of an organized effort, and the beneficiary were some trail access advocacy group like the Blue Ribbon Coalition, we'd be happy to chip in with some new parts if there were an opportunity for publicity. I'm sure many of the vendors would.

I like the idea of letting as many folks as possible join in on it. Maybe one idea would be to have a group in one region begin working on the rolling chassis while a group in another region worked on the body. Then the chassis and body could be shipped to a third region to be put together, then moved again for wiring and finishing.

I also think this is a great idea and as Dusty said I think the Blue Ribbon guys could benefit very much from this. Specially if the media got ahold of the story and put it on the news. We could really bring awareness to the trails etc. I don't have much for a parts pile but will donate as much time/money/parts as I can. I can also donate some engraving of some sort if we can work it in.

Raising public awareness about trail access advocacy groups, and involving a large group of Bronco Brothers and Sisters?

(doing my best effort at a Guinness commercial imitation)

BRILLIANT!

Market it like the Tin Benders do with their rig, and we can make a nice donation. I'd guess that other forums may help us sell tickets if we make good on the donation promise and get some positive marketing and publicity.

I'll volunteer to be on the detail work and the TESTING when its all done. Be warned, I'm not good at FIXING bodywork, though.

now that idea i like! i think if we had enough people with enough nice parts and enough detail, we could send this sucker across barrett jackson with a good reserve. make it so people know the money is going to be donated to a kids health organization, that always gets people's attention. if we got enough for it, imagine how much we could get to help out a bunch of kids? what, alopecia foundation or something like that?

I've been watching this thread and agree it's a really interesting idea. I'm sort of sitting back to see how the thought process progresses as more people reply.

There are definitely some challenges to something like this.

First is location. Since the forum is national (international, really) it makes it difficult to come together on a project like this. The idea of working on different parts in different states is interesting, although lots and LOTS of logistical and planning issues to coordinate there.

Second is leadership. Even a "group" project like this needs an individual (or very small group) to actually do the work and make it happen. This is no small task, and as much help as people want to be it still boils down to 1 or 2 people coordinating the project (scheduling, shop space, planning for and getting parts, publicizing, etc.) And where that leader lives directly affects the location question above.

As I said, great idea. Let's hear some ideas on how it could actually be accomplished.

as far as location and leadership is concerned I think that it's obvious that disputes would be had, assuming this gets off the ground, but anyways we should remember that this is supposed to be for fun and a worthy cause.
