Just received my Gearstar AOD for my 76. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CWpBJKMBU5ZURwAmHmh0McgsibRGsMbu/view?usp=share_link It has full width axles and a 408 Stroker with Canton 351 extra capacity pan, which made need for all new exhaust routing. Fear (laziness) of the work that would be needed kept me from building it for a few weeks. So I bought $200 of bends and pipe and ended up only using $50 or so excluding the Magnaflow y-pipe (p/n 10732). Thought I explain mine to maybe help others.
Using JBA shorty headers (WH) came off drivers side with a 90. Came off a y-pipe with another 90. Coupled the 90's with a short straight. The angle off the down 90 is such that I can remove the rear oil pan plug (bottom drivers rear of pan). The Pass side was a simple 20 degree cut short.
I wrapped the pipe as they go up next to the AOD. I am using Tom's 700R4 Crossmember as well as Duff's Torque Tamer. The crossmember is below the bottom of the y-pipe and the exit comes out above the Tamer, so all I need is another straight pipe to reach the muffler.
