Yesterday I was trying to sell the old rims and 31" bfg all terrains to guy on craigslist. He cam over and we started to talk about old broncos. Some how he started to mention that he had a family member that gave him a 351 windsor and a bunch of parts. (Cant exactly remember everything he said). But then he asked if I would be interested in trading the tires and rims for the 351 and everything. Well, since I got the bronco I've been thinking of finding a 351 and keeping it on the side to slowly build up and eventually install in the bronco. So naturally I said hell yeah. I do remember he said he had 2 carbs, 2 different intakes, and it had a new camshaft in it. He was going to rebuild it but just doesn't have time and wants to get it out of his way in in garage. Think I made a good deal. Hell, he even said I can have the engine stand with it and everything he has for it. Once I go and pick it up I will post pics and I know I will have questions about it. I will come here to ask the questions like always as it is the best to get answers. Just wanted to express my happiness!!!!!:):):)

That does sound like a good deal. Sounds like a good guy to deal with too.

Do you know what year 351w motor it is?

No not yet. Going to make arrangements this coming week to get it with a buddy of mine. I'll get more info on him then

Look near the starter for a F4TE stamp which would be nice bonus if it's a roller cam ready
351.

Ok. Will do. These are the things I know I will be asking once I do get everything back to my house.

The guy I traded the rims and tires for the 351 and all the parts is going to load it up and bring to my house this Saturday. I want to run a carb on it once it's built. What size is good for a 351? I got a edelbrock 1450 4 barrel on my bronco now.

Go to Summit Racing and search for a carburetor. They've got a quick CFM calculator program on their site. I believe the factory Motorcraft 4BBL on my '69 351W Torino is 490 CFM. You'd be surprised how few CFM's are really required. (Our human nature is always to go BIG!) I think Edelbrock makes a 550, I put the smallest Holley made on my 302, which is 600.

Holley has a 390 and 470 4 barrel.
Small cfm will be snappy and torquey, ie, see fun.
Big cfm will get you better top end, ie, hello highway on ramp.

I'm running a 600 vacuum secondary Holly on the 351W in my Bronco. Low end works well but starts to fall off around 5200 rpm. The 390 Holley on the 300 in my F150 is snappy, it will open the vacuum secondaries sitting still if rapped hard.

A 351 set up like the stock '69s is nearly perfect for an EB. Loads of torque at 2000 RPM and runs strong to about 4500. This is where stock C4s are happiest. The only change I would recommend to a '69 4bbl would be a drop in compression from 10.5 to 9.0 to 1, and a 480 CFM 4100 carburetor. The 4300 carb the factory used, is hard to tune and nowhere near as good a carb.

I assume you meant you have an Edelbrock 1405. If so I would start out by running the same carb.

Has he already got the tires and wheels?

He got them last week. He just contacted me and said the rims will not fit in his jeep. The center bore hole is too small. He said I can have the tires and rims back but he also said that he will still me the 351 and all the parts he has with it on Saturday. This guy is cool! He just wants to get it of his garage and I will happily take it. I just hope it's ok and can be built back up in time and with some money.

Sweet deal! I wish some random guy would have delivered my 351 I just picked up. But no, I had to pay for it and pull it from the truck. ;)
