I just picked up the U14 couple days. I has 26000 original documented miles. The fella I bought it from claims he spoke with a fella who actually helped put together these panels back in the day. He said they were were factory welds. This is a very early Sept/65 production truck. Did they build them that crude? I'm curious.

Uuummmmmmm.......No.

What he said. All of the body panels are spot-welded 'flange to flange'. I'm guessing that those welds in the pics are external on the outer seams were not done by Ford...nor were they done by a competent body repair mechanic either.

I has 26000 original documented miles.

I would page through the documented miles, and check for the entry: Replaced quarters myself.

Post some more pics of your new ride!

Agree with everyone that those are not factory welds. Are both sides that way or just the passenger side?

Are you sure those are welds and not just a bad job of seam sealing? I am leaning towards the latter. I dont think it is factory seam sealing but rather done later by a not so smooth finger ;D

mebbe they are factory Canadian welds?

:p

Sounds like HotWheels is a little jealous about the "professional" and "skillful" work done by a Canuck.

All kidding aside, I go with a panel repair job. Looks to me like a fix it up and sell it type fix at the dealer after the transport delivery truck dropped it when he was unloading. I have seen this before, my 96 pickup was one of the dropped ones and the fix is about the same quality from the dealer no less

Here a few pics of the Truck. It's a pretty solid truck despite the welds. Easy fix.

Thanks for adding the pictures. It looks like a great '66 Halfcab and I'm jealous. I've been looking for one like that for a long time.
