Olive drab green over black is a damn good look for these things.
I've always noticed that flat colors tend to :
1. oxidize quickly .... does the flattened clear help with that?
2. hold dirt or whatever (stain easily) ... does the flattened clear help with that also?

My flat paint holds onto every greasy fingerprint and mud splat, stains easy. If you can find a top coat that would help a lot I think.

From what I have been told by the paint store guys the flat clear will do everything that regular clear does except shine. It'll help prevent fading and protect the paint from contaminants. That is partly why I decided to go two stage instead of one stage. You might want to check the product out with someone you trust in the paint industry and get more specifics though, my info is coming from someone trying to sell me something.

I did mine with the olive drab rattlecan. It has held up pretty good for over 3 years.
