Atlas 2 leak

I only have about 600 miles on my atlas 2 i bought last year. It took me a while to get itninstalled, then decided to do an engine swap.

It started leaking out of the front output shift. A few days ago. Now its leaking bad. How hard is it to replace this seal? Can it be done without removing it from the vehicle.
I cannot stand leaks. This is driving me nuts and passing me off

Yup. Easy job.

I think depending on oil fill level that you might have to drain some of the oil out so it doesn't leak out when you do the repair.

Remove the DS.

Remove the nut holding the yoke or flange on.

Remove the yoke or flange

Pry the seal out

Clean and I mean thoroughly clean the area that the seal seats on so when you very sparingly apply RTV it will seal against a PERFECTLY CLEAN surface... use rubbing alcohol with a white rag. When the rag is still white after wiping then... you're clean :)

Tap the seal back into place carefully so you don't buggar it up.

Reassemble and you are "leak free".

I'm with ya... hate leaks...I've pulled transfer cases to seal up btw it and gear doublers before... really hate 'em! :)

It's going to leak again. It sucks.

Do not forget to put RTV on the splines and threads of the front yoke, it will wick through and leak there.

Surgical clean and if you can find the same sealant they built it with, I'd use that. Mine never leaked until it needed service, but it's 10 years old and seen a rock or two...

Last month I got pissed and put RTV around the edge of the nut and the top of the threads, basically sealing it. Stopped leaking there but then started on the seal carrier mounting surface. I give up.

It's so frustrating. I just got done sealing up my rear end after it has been leaking for a year at the 3rd member.

Now this just started and it is basically bran new. It hasn't seen off road yet and its leaking. It can sit all night without a drop. Then as the outside temps start to rise it starts dripping. Throughout the day it will.loose about 3 ozs

Such encouraging reviews!! I had an early Atlas model w/o leaking or weeping a drop. Then went 205 (leak free) and got a new Atlas this spring/summer. So is this what I have to look forward to??? :(

I've beat mine against the rocks for a decade, literally no skid plate.

Seriously, brake clean it and RTV the leaks. Who cares how you get them to stop, as long as they stop.
