Atlas II shifters

Bought a used Atlas II last year and want to get it installed behind my ZF tranny.

Anybody have real world experience between using the stock shifter and a good set of cable shifters?

Obviously I have some which are the cheaper way to go, however I also have less time and even less patience the older I get.

So are the cable shifter worth the extra money for less hassle?

Most people that have them love them, me personally I prefer linkage. I've never had an issue getting them to work right and get them in a position that I liked. Those that have issues usually try to get them too short so the angles get all weird.

Your call brutha!

For whatever it's worth...

I had the stock shifter, but did not install it, once I could see where it would sit in the cabin...Just did not like the location of it...

Honestly, never did like the location of the (floor mounted) trans shifter (too close to my legs!) or the transfer case shifter (too close to the dash!)....:(

Went with the cable style, so I could put it where I wanted it... = Priceless!

Worth it?...Hell Ya!

Aloha

No experience, but I'm willing to flip a coin and be the tie breaker for you later on if necessary, just offering the service, lol. Good luck man.

I recently went from a twin sticked d20 to an atlas2 with linkage shifters.
I didnt really have problems with the location of the tcase shifter with the d20 and dont notice much difference with the atlas. I thought the linkage was simple to setup. I had to adjust the hole in the tunnel a little, but I have had a large cover for that for years (totally worth it to have a big cutout in the tunnel for adjusting things, so maybe that is why it worked easily for me)

If you have a center console type thing or plans for that in the future, cables all the way. IF you werent annoyed with the stock d20 shift location (assuming you had twin sticks), I dont see how linkage would be materially different.

Good luck.. I love the atlas.. but I will say that it took some getting used to the lower gear in low range.. my motor was plenty torquey before, now it scares me a little!! Time for a hand throttle!

I have a fairly large access hole, so I think I will wait and see how it works out. What gearing is in your Atlas and what tyranny is it behind?
