Aux fuel tank filler question

I was in the process of replacing the aux fuel tank in my 74 with a slightly used one sourced from another member. The old and new aux tanks are both poly, so I thought this was going to be easy...

The problem is that the size of the inlet appears to be different on the replacement tank. The filler elbow hose I have is much wider than the new tank needs, so it's a very loose fit. I suspect that old tank had a 2" (or 2.25") inlet, and the replacement tank has a slightly smaller inlet.

Is there a way to convert the hose to the smaller inlet on the tank? Or maybe I need to replace the filler neck assembly with one that's the same size as the tank, and then get a new filler hose that fits both?
