Aux Fuel tank hack job

The previous owner did some work to the auxiliary tank/ fuel system on my rig. He really hacked it up. It has leaked fuel in that area for most of the time I’ve owned it. I’m putting in a new tank and redoing all the lines. Does anyone have any pictures of how it’s supposed to be done. I’d like to repair the body where he “modified” it to make room for the sender.

Sorry no pick but the must have used a sending unit from the rear tank because they are clocked differently
Just follow where the po cut get that down and straight weld it and use the new sending unit off of the new tank

Thanks. I think I found the problem the old tank was from JC Whitney. Seems like they made the tank about an 1” too long. And the sending unit is probably 1/2 higher too. I got this new tank and sending unit from Wild Horses. It’s like a night and day difference.

Pics

Here are some pics of my set up. Tank, sending unit and skid plate all from Tom's Bronco and replaced original aux tank.

Fairly easy job, but I would recommend putting some lubricant on inside of the hose that connects the fill tube to the tank. I didn't do that and couldn't get the last 1/8 inch pushed onto the fill tube = slight kink in the hose = can't refuel at full gas flow.

I spent 19 years with a slight leak from that tank that lasted about 10 seconds every time I drove it. Soooo nice to not have that puddle under the truck anymore!!

I got this straightened out as much as I could. I just can’t understand why someone would just start cutting if something didn’t fit correctly.
