Picture was a no-show, I'll try again.

I have a set of traction bars that mount above the spring. From what I saw in the video, they help only marginally. The big downside is the loss of suspension articulation. Since I drive in loose sand quite a bit, I am thinking I should have some sort of axle wrap negator. Should I go to a setup more like bigjhoov's? I am about to check out the ballistic links and add to the wishlist.

The set up's that are on top of the spring don't do sh*t. You need something that attaches to the bottom of the axle. Notice in the video how the axle is trying to walk out from under the axle. That's the movement you need to stop. Think of the position of the leaf mounting to the axle as a hinge. By creating triangulation between these three points, leaf to axle, bottom of axle, and front leaf to frame connection, you can control the wrap. You want your front mount to be in the same area as the CV and front leaf bushing to reduce bind. You also want the front location to be able to pivot forward and backward as the axle compresses and drops out or it will bind and reduce articulation.

how you feel about the wrap trap jerry? does it do any good? kinda the same idea as the old school traction bars IMO.

Is anyone else going to duct tape a camera to their springs to see how bad their axle wraps? I plan to do it. Maybe not tape though.

just rolling mine back and forth in the driveway last night i could see it, i'm planning on it. what i'm wondering is why the front half, which is the shorter end and has the double wrap, is worse than the rear half???

Here's what we currently are running on the racer. one single bar from the bottom of the axle to the bottom of the frame. We tried a heim on the axle end but it bound up when the axle cycled. The axle travels in a straight line up and down, but the traction bar actually travels in an arc getting longer in the middle and shorter at the top and bottom of the cycle therefore creating bind. We're now running a leaf bushing on that sidethat will self clearance a little bit and minimize any binding but still preventing the axle to wrap under itself.

I'm showing how little I know, I had no idea it was even close to that. Wow, it makes me nervous now...that video is sort of scary.

Because the front of the spring is hard mounted where the rear half of the spring has the shackle whick allows movement. So basically the front half of the spring will wrap first because its hard mounted and has no where else to go.
