Boxwood is the new Brittany! This was a beauty and brought Coyote money with a 331 stroker and a C4.

I've not seen a build like that before. at least it wasn't cookie-cutter like most of the high-end builds.

So, I was looking at a 2005 Lexus LX470 on BAT this weekend. Something didn't seem right, including the fact that they removed the entire interior. I searched the VIN and it came from a CoPart / Salvage auction but this isn't listed in the description or on the carfax. Unlike the pictures on BAT, the Copart pictures told a completely different story. I'm wondering if I report this or leave it alone? Here's the BAT Listing and the Copart information. Scary.

On Copart it listed issue as mechanical, does that mean it would have a salvage title or not? I thought BaT did a better job screening the vehicles they offer? As a buyer, I would want to know.

If there's something amiss or omitted in the BaT story (and a 5 second review appears to show that there is), then it's very fair and prudent for you to bring it up in the comments with your observations. That's why the comments are there - so potential bidders are aware of potential issues with vehicles. Some people might think you're seagulling on an auction, but if I'm bidding on a vehicle, I want as much information as possible to help make an informed decision.

I've seen discrepancies like this brought up many, many times in the auctions I've followed. Recently there was a Focus SVT auction I was following where someone pointed out a CoPart listing or something similar that showed a car was probably not quite what it was purported to be.

Occasionally BaT will cancel auctions mid-auction if the problems are severe enough.

Well, I was conflicted on this so I left it alone. Anyone could have searched the VIN and found the same information.

Did anyone follow this? Wow!

And that is only one that was caught. This stuff has happened for years at the big live events, no doubt it happens online too.

That’s messed up. I’ve had a serious hankering for an old 911 for awhile and bid on a few on BAT. After adding up the 5% buyers fee, ~ 4K shipping since most are on the left coast, and the 6.6 % Georgia taxes if it is sold by a dealer, I was looking at about 13k extra. On top of all that you have this stuff going on…. I have quit even looking at BAT.

Probably better off not looking at a Porsche on an online auction anyway. The fees are just the beginning of the expense. I have had Porsches, you are better off having them checked out first as the cost add up a lot quicker than any Bronco I have ever owned.

I’m well aware of that. The ones I have bid on are from very reputable Porsche specialists. I would always have an inspection done as well.

Watching the 911 auctions on BaT will give you a good lesson in those cars regardless of whether you buy one or not. I had always wanted one too so I finally pulled the plug in 2019 and got an '86 Carrera locally. Due to my particular life's circumstances, when I get a car like that, it has to be my daily driver too. Although my car only had ~60K on it when I bought it, it was still 33 years old and needed a lot of care and feeding. I had a wonderful mechanic but spent way too much time at his place during the time that I owned it. I think I have the itch out of my system for now - if I was to get another one, it would be one that I didn't need to daily drive and could park when it's hot out. I ended up selling mine on BaT last year.

I was shocked at the BJ results. Kind of po'd this weekend though when I realized my auto-record of the Mecum auctions did not happen. Got one 4-hour segment on Thursday and that was it! Bummer...

whoops...

I was watching that one, and wondered why it didn't fetch more either. Maybe the wheels? Pretty interesting to watch all the different EB's go though for the different pricing. Look at the one going through right now thats been at 180k+ for a couple days. 3hrs left @ 186k, i wonder how much more it will climb in the last couple hours. Ill be watching, just watching, cause my checkbook turns to rubber when getting into that league!

you never know, it's so hard to tell w/bidders there. ones that just got to have it, or not willing to pay too much

All this Porsche talk, anyone interested in a 1997 Porsche 911 Cabriolet under 30K miles in Wimbledon Green? Clients husband passed away and she wants it out of the garage.
