I thought so as well. I don't want to bash it as it may be just what the buyer wanted but I have never seen this quality sell for that much. Especially with the softer market we are in.
That gap between the steering wheel and the column certainly raised one of my eyebrows...

It means it sold for $280 plus $28k buyer fee. Headscratcher indeed.
Yes I get that but was not sure if the auction itself was a charity auction or if this was full boat bidding. If so, that is CRAZY

There are ten (10!) early Broncos listed right now. They used to pace them out a bit. When I sold mine on BAT there was only 3 or 4 listed at any one time. Seems like they're flooding the market but still getting some pretty high prices.

I'm going to list one of mine on BaT soon. I sold another Bronco on BaT last fall and it went okay. I am just going through the initial dance with them. They have accepted the vehicle to list already, though.

I'm just discussed, I'm trying to find a project, that makes sense, 10,000 for a vin, 15000 for a body, is nuts. I keep hearing, I'm into it for x dollars. I'm not going to pay for your mistakes, because you don't know a crescent wrench from a pipe wrench. Bronco's are not a 401k for retirement, and a lot of people are going to find that out the hard way.

I don't follow the logic. I can't wrap my head around why the cost of the VIN (the frame I assume - with a title) would go down in cost and a clean body, same thing.

I don't imagine that people are buying Broncos as investments, persay. I think some people are surprised when their $250k Velocity, Vintage, etc. Broncos sell for less than $200k...but that's where the Market is and imagine most people buying $250k+ Broncos can still sleep at night losing $75k on a toy.

I would hope at least...

Wow. Just because it doesn't make sense to you, doesn't mean it doesn't work for someone else.

Maybe you should be looking for a Bronco 2 or a Scout or a Willys. Plenty of cool projects that aren't Broncos out there.

interesting, like I said preaching to the choir, but telling me to buy something else, considering I have been a member of this forum since 2012, and have owned broncos and Shelby's, so to hint its only because I can't afford it is funny.

There is a concerted effort to reassure current owner of Broncos that classics Bronco have value and will not lose said value, due to the new Gen. These reassurances are subtle, and dropped into video and written posts, but there are many. There is a bubble, and time will tell. I will say this again, Cars, and Broncos are not sound investment, for children college funds, or 401ks, and you might be young, I don't know or really care. My logic is perfect and impassionate. I'm NOT trying to sell anything, not a life style, being fashionable, or used cars.

I said nothing about your financial situation. Not my business. However, when someone complains about the cost of projects being too high, maybe looking at a cheaper project is the answer. It's not necessarily about ones ability to spend money, but more about their desire to spend.

There are bubbles in everything right now. It's called inflation. New pickups for $100k, ski boats for $200k. Lots of examples where prices are up 50%, so why would Broncos be any different? Point is, like it or not, your money is worth less. I'm afraid a lot of bubbles are here to stay.

My suggestion to buy something else is more directed at 4x4s that I see that look like better deals relative to Broncos right now. My HS kids think Bronco 2s are really cool (I shudder), Scouts are harder to find, but I've seen quite a few reasonably priced rigs lately in the NW. And Willys and CJ are a bargain right now, relatively speaking.
