Best of luck with the move! I know what it's like living in California...can't blame you for moving (fires & floods). I can't wait to retire & move out to New Mexico in January 2007!!!!! ;D Sweet clean air & no environmental nazis out there!

just to let you know, i'm not a californian. i was born and raised in houston, and when i left i never looked back!
That was Houston, I am there now and don't blame you. Where Chuck is going is nothing like Houston.

i'm planning on moving to oregon because it's cheaper and nicer than so cal. besides, i have a job waiting for me up there. i'm by no means rich, i'm looking for a CHEAP mobile home up there. i have a little money put away for a down payment right now. hell, i may even live in a travel trailer for a while.

i can't afford it down here, and i'm tired of the rat race!

BTW, this is the first time in years i've admitted to being from texas, i tell everybody i came out here from denver (which is the last lace i lived).
I am a Californian, by birth. I think Texas has so much to offer. California is a great state...geographically. Probably has the best of almost everything. It also has the worse. I like the fact that I can go buy a gun and don't have to wait a week to actually touch it. I also appreciate the state pride people have here. AND I'm still paying 30 cents a gallon less than I was 14 months ago.
There is something I don't like about Texas though, my family is not here. :'(
I don't think bashing Texas is gonna change Chucks mind and I think it's a shame you are embarrassed to call Texas home. It's not like you're from Arkansas or something ;D

hah, i lived in arkansas for a few months too. i have family there.

i have to admit, austin is pretty. i went there a few times for a few hours each time before i left. my grandparents had property in round mountain that they retired on. the hill country is definitely better than the big cities.

Chuck,
Just when I was going to email you with the idea of financing a mini BC store in Austin, you go and move the whole shooting match here. I remember a year or so back on a thread when you asked me a bunch of questions about Central Texas. The hill country is the obvious location for your needs. Lakes, Hills, Rocks, and all climates are available. Welcome aboard and let us know how we can help with the transition.
No state income tax, and no smog checks yet.

Screw Texas... Come to New Mexico. I could use a Career Move (I'm sure the wife would just LOVE me working at a Bronco specific shop). We have 3.5 seasons (Almost a winter). And we have some of the cheapest property around. (Currently on the rise though).

Why is it so windy in New Mexico? Cuz Texas Sucks and Arizona Blows!!! ;D ;D ;D

Just another reason to hate this guy.

Well, in that case welcome to Texas. I grew up in Monterey California and moved here about 12 years ago and have never looked back. The only thing I miss is... Well not a dang thing that I can't get with a quick trip on South West Airlines.

Comfort is some beautiful country, you will love it there. Welcome Home

broncow72 could'nt be more right. I was born and raised in California. We always lived in small towns in the northern part of the valley and finally ended up in Chester, up in the mountains. I was young and couldn't really see all the "garbage" that was going on. After 5 years in the Army, a whole lot of travelling, and seven years in Texas; I have formed the same opinion as broncow72. If it weren't for the idiotic laws and the morons who champion them, I would move back to California. But then, I'd miss my neighbors. That's what makes this place great.
