We like CA. but I don't like the libs., laws, taxes and restictions...

Chuck,

I am sorry to see you leaving. You, Debbie, Jason, and the rest of your crew have been very helpful with my EB build-up. But I understand, I have lived in California for all of my 44 years. I thought I would stay here untill the end. It is not the same place it was. I have spent 20 yrs in the Fire service and have 10 more to go. I am not sure if I will have a retirement if Arnold gets his way, after all I am a member of a special interest group! I cannot afford to live in the city I work in and have to comute 45 miles to get there.
Good luck with the move and the new place in Texas. Hopefully the price of diesel will not continue to go up to the point where shipping UPS will become prohibitive.

just to let you know, i'm not a californian. i was born and raised in houston, and when i left i never looked back!

i'm planning on moving to oregon because it's cheaper and nicer than so cal. besides, i have a job waiting for me up there. i'm by no means rich, i'm looking for a CHEAP mobile home up there. i have a little money put away for a down payment right now. hell, i may even live in a travel trailer for a while.

i can't afford it down here, and i'm tired of the rat race!

BTW, this is the first time in years i've admitted to being from texas, i tell everybody i came out here from denver (which is the last lace i lived).
I spent 5 years in Texas and while I have returned once so my son could see where he was born I haven't looked back. Sorry folks but none of Texas does a thing for me. What struck me the most on the last visit was how depressed the entire state has become over the last 16 years. Anyway, that is kind of getting sidetracked. Do you already have a travel trailer? If not mine is for sale if it will work and isn't out of your price range. It's a 2001 25' Coachman that sleeps 6 with a bedroom at the front and bunks at the back. It originally had a curtain dividing the bedroom from the rest however I put a door in instead to give me and my wife some privacy from the kids.

I doubt that you will win many brownie points by attacking Grunt1058 here. He has been on this board a lot longer than you and has been fairly active during that time both adding to it and taking from it.

Here I feel like I am spinning my wheels a lot, everytime I think I'm getting ahead the price of something goes up. The mandatory workmans comp is a good example. I'm told Ca is the highest but provides the least benifit to the worker. Here in public schools we are paying for teachers to teach in other languages and giving illegals free collage while students from other states pay top dollar to go to school here. I guess this is not the right place to whine about that kind of stuff. Anyway I will still only be a toll free phone call away.
P.S. The price of gas today was $3.01 I may not be able to afford the gas to leave.

Forgot to add. Comfort is inbetween SA and the grandad's ranch. I like free shipping because I can pick it up. I hope google maps got the location right!

Good Luck Chuck (from John in Victorville aka Bart). I too want out of Kalifornia and want to move to Texas!!! Abilene would be my choice. Maybe New Mexico. I think AZ is getting toooooooooooo expensive. I don't mind some cold so Southern Colorado would work too.

Put enough gas in to get you a couple hundred miles out of Ca and don't look back. ;)

Great news for my bronco, bad news for my bank account. ;)

I look forward to visiting the new place! Welcome to Austin. It's a great town.

The only place in Texas worth a damn in my book.

Well the move sounds great.

But I can't say alot for Comfort. They used to throw rocks at our school bus after football games....even when we lost to them! And you will have to learn to speak spanish. Thats about all Comfort is. But the area is beautiful. I love that area and Fredricksburg. You'll enjoy it....and it will give me a reason to come back home every once in awhile. ;D

I noticed the on line demographics. stated Hesp,= 45 % but the town is clean and well keep. So it seem that the people of Comfort are as proud of thier town as they are of being Texans. Besides scum comes in all colors and you can find it in most places. Which reminds me, I got the one fingered sign of ill well one time in Comfort from a guy and 2 times in SA. from girls. It seems they did not like the way I was driving my motorhome. But around here they call it the Hesperia wave it happens so often. It seems like Hesperia attract low lifes.

We liked Payson and Prescott a lot but while we were looking the prices went up about 30% and even then there was very few comm. buildings available. It seem Californians have caused the price of property to go up so much in Or that they can't afford it either so they are doing the same thing to Az now.
As things are now people in orenge county are selling out and buying houses around me cash and having enough left over to retire. What I would like to know is where are the people getting their money that are buying the OC housing?

Way to go, Chuck! Most of us taxpayers who still live in the Peoples Republic of California are looking to leave. We're actively seeking employment in Idaho, but the San Antonio/Austin area would be our second choice. I spent quite a bit of time in SA while my son was in Brook Army Hospital. Great people, great food, and green all year! Take the time to try Rudy's BBQ- it the best!

Never been big on brownie points, but point taken. Just pokin' him a little after his talk about Texas.
