Chuck, i know that you are pretty much out of the design phase on this top but i just now got around to reading about it and had a idea for you. what about sewing in a strip of flat flexible magnet to hold the back down instead of velcro, i have used them a good bit and they have great holding strength but i don't know what kind of load would be on them with the windows down doing 70MPH down the freeway.

Some one e-mailed me about this last week (you?) I think it is a great idea and have looked at the strip magnuts. I don't think they will be strong enough but I might be able to sew small magnuts into the bottom edge and make that work. Thanks.

The top gets a couple of wrinkles near the back on the top. Most tops have them but I think I can get them out by adding a bow. We will try that next week.

I will not be at FFF this year, too many things going but hope to have a top there. Here is a picture of the latest top with the wrinkle

Sorry to here, I was looking forward to talking with you. I'm curious to see your long awaited top though. For the wrinkle, maybe a couple of days in the sun would take care of that.

I will get some while I am there next week. I think most tops have that wrinkle but I got to try to get it out.

I have a new canvas here now. In the next few days I hope to finish all the jigs needed to make the parts interchangeable. Making one is much easier. The hard part is making a hole in two diff. parts so a bolt will go through both every time. What I am talking about is the hoops attach to the top of the side frame by setting over a pin that has a hole in it and is welded to the top. The hoop has a matching hole. Both holes have to match on 3 axes. And the hoops have to be the same length/height. And the roof rack bracket has to be placed in the same place and welded on every frame so that option can be attached without welding after the powdercoating. Anyway, that is what I did with my weekend.

Chuck, I know what will fix all of your problems - you need to hire a mechanical engineer w/ an MBA (hum.....do I know one of those???? ;) )
