So you think the wiper motor will fit under the top. in the picture it sure looks like like it is going to be close. Close is good, I have no problem with close
It fits on mine but that is one of many things you will end up telling me:)

They say it will be 98 here to day. Anyway, the powdercoater was doing the frame yesterday after their oven being down for 3 weeks so I have some hope that they will be done Monday.

Most roof racks should be useable. I will have my own bows to mount the racks to also but the hardware of the racks I have seen can be used.

Hey Chuck,

Still stuck here in Iraq. I have three questions and please forgive me if it has been talked about or shown already in this post but bandwidth does not let me see all the pics:

1. Will you be producing a tan top? This is the color I am after to match my new paint job.

2. Is the fabric of you top more vinyl looking - or - denim/canvas looking (I prefer the denim/canvas look)?

3. Will you offer it as a complete package with a roof rack and all the holes for the rack predrilled? I would not want to spend the money on a top only to have to drill holes and screw it up!

Thanks for developing the great products and supporting the Bronco community. I look forward to placing my order (I have time since I am 7 months into a 15 month tour here - thanks GW)

1. yes
2. The fabric is called Top Gun, it is polyester woven fabric that is Acrylic imtregnated. In other words it looks like a slightly shiny canvas that is more water repellent than canvas, mildew resistant and can be cleaned.
3. I will offer a rack and several other products as options. The install of the rack will be easy and buyers will not be forced to buy my rack. Here is a quick install example, remove top canvas, clamp rack brackets to each of the 4 welded on top tabs, drill 2 holes through each tab and bracket, remove clamps and brackets, install top canvas, locate drilled holes through canvas, using soldering iron melt hole in canvas using drilled holes as guides, install brackets sandwiching canvas between tabs and brackets.

Thanks Chuck.

When do you think I would be able to order one (tan w/rack) and pricing? I have my deployment mid-tour leave sometime in SEP so I would like to get it delivered prior to leave so I can mount it during the break.

As I am dependent on others to deliver parts when they say and at the price they say they will I can not say for sure. My best guess is I will start calling the order list and taking orders in about a week. Depending on what BAX has to say after he gets his top, and that is assuming that the powdercoater finishes his work in the next 2 days as promised.

Wow
I haven't checked out this thread in a while, and when I see what Chuck has done, it just shows he listens to what us bronco owners are looking for.

There was another post asking why Chuck wasn't selling the can back top. He showed some pictures of what he was doing. I really didn't like it at the time, but saw some huge potential if he made a few changes. So I did some crude photoshop pictures of what I would like him to change.

here is the post
http://classicbroncos.com/forums/showthread.php?t=111287&page=2&highlight=top

Well I didn't think he would do what I was looking for, but when I see the pictures of the redesign of the top, I am blown away. He took just about every sugestion I made, and the top looks allmost exactlly like what I asked him to change.

So I guess I am the designer of the new top, hehe.

I want to thank Chuck for caring enough to swallow his pride about his first design, and listening to what at least one of us wanted. Chuck the new top is allmost perfect for me, enough so that I would be proud to have it on my baby.

So do I get a discount, for helping in the re design %)

Chuck's top is very nice, and I just want to thank you Mr. Gore for designing it.

Also, I just want to thank you for inventing this "internet" thing too. It's really cool!!!

Sorry, I couldn't resist.;D

I looked at a lot of ideas, (none stolen) yours included. Some were good but not feasible because of cost or design. The new top design is a combo of design, feasiblity and cost. Mostly cost cutting. The frame design is still too costly and labor intense. I may make some more changes here but the orginal idea was to have a frame that did not have a bar going through the side windows and could support a roof rack. It will still do that but we left out the doom light and speaker mounts. The canvas is still Top Gun but there is no zippers now, only snaps that I will have done in color to work with the top color. No moon roof or 1/2 cab. They went to cost cutting, the good side of this is no seams or stitches to leak in the roof.
As for compensation for your help I have you down on the list of free tops right after Jason and Myself :) Just pulling your chain but I do appreciate everyones input/help. Thank you everyone for helping us with this 3+ year experience of a life time. The first top went out to BAX today. He paid for his top and will make commit on everything form instructions to install, fit and quality and other things that will come up from a customers view. We have been looking at it for so long I am sure we are not seeing some things that will be obvious to Bax. If the problems are easy fixs we hope to be selling tops very soon. Anyway the ball is in Bax's court and I am taking a break.

So do I get a discount, for helping in the re design %)[/QUOTE]

Well you couldn't find a better guy to give good feedback, and help you make any small improvements. After what he went through with ricks top, I am sure he will be happy.

I can't wait to see what he thinks

Well any ideas you took from me, were given to you with hopes that it would help you make the top better. If myself and other members have years of enjoyment from your rop, I was happy to help, in any little way

Hey Chuck, the items that you are cutting out for cost saving...ie dome light speaker mounts, you should make the as options at additional cost. Or make different levels of features.
