I don't know about Lokar but a lot of aftermarket shifters you cannot retain the stock neutral safety switch. Maybe some one else can chime in.
Would be worth looking into.

The best floor shifter is the Winters/Art Carr shifter. Lots of threads about this, and most agree. It's certainly the most durable, once you get used to the gates it's very quick to use. You have have to remove the stock NSS, but you can add a NSS and reverse light switch. It's available through Wild Horses, that right there speaks of it's quality.

Are you a serious wheeler? If so art car or winters. If you are a daily driver I woul do a gated shifter like a pro ratchet.

I really like this one on my trail rig. See this thread.

Mine is not currently installed with a cable, but it can be easily converted to cable.

I like the B&M products - gate & ratchet type. As mentioned though, you'll have to remove the factory switch on the C4 that controls your reverse backup and neutral safety functions but most shifters come with a switch that is attached to the shifter... All you have to do is extend the factory wiring up through the floor and re-wire accordingly. I just purchased a B&M shifter but haven't installed it yet because I'm still debating its final position, my dilemma is the center console... To put the shifter where I really want it, I would have to ditch the console but I like it and it cost me $80, so I'm trying to figure out the best way to have it all but to do that, it becomes pretty cluttered in that area with the transfer case shifter, console & B&M shifter????

We offer the LOKAR here at Duff's and the floor mount cable shifter works just fine. The only thing we have had issues on was where the cable mounts down at the transmission. The Lokar bracket attaches to the transmission pan bolts and usually needs some "tweaking" to get around the driveshaft. We have even had guys build new tranny brackets that mount on the governor(like a B&M shifter uses) rather than the pan. The LOKAR shifter does come with N/S switch. You can now add a backup light, but you have to also add the LOKAR LED shift indicator.

Looking to go with the cable shifter by lobar any suggestions would help pick to help with install thanks in advanced for help

I have an older Lokar (3 yrs old??) with a rod. The foot print on the floor is pretty small and I only cut a 2 X 3 hole maybe. I do not like the gates and everyone who has ever had to move it says it is not clear which gear you are in. Also the rod is connected to the trans and the shifter is bolted to the floor. If the chassis flexes and the body does not I have had it pull the shifter into neutral. I never go off road but I have had this happen when doing a burn out and go wheel hop.

This one is real narrow. I thought it might fit between the drivers seat and the console there by overcoming the whole console "or" shifter debate.
In a perfect world I'd have a Winters gated shifter "and" a JBG Max control console but they both won't fit together in the same spot. Damn it.
