Eleven years ago I bought my motorhome with a too small Walmart battery.Well 11 years later it still cranks like new. I've kept it on a maintainer, but even when it sits for a month or so unplugged it still works. Don't know who made it. I also have 2 optimas,no trouble with either one.

I honestly have had good luck with my Gold Top Auto Zone battery! Gonna ride it till it dies and then get something better! Till then the AutoZone has been solid! ;D

My local battery guru says that the new Duracell batteries are better than the current optimas. No personal experience here, but I've considered replacing an older optima with one to try it.

Oddessey today is what Optima was 15 years ago, just cost a lot more. Then again a decent flooded cell battery costs a lot more today then it did 15 years ago as well.

A good battery that isn't as well known is Northern. Had a nice chat with them at SEMA this year. I was impressed (and I am not usually impressed). They are not chasing every possible market (no powersports like Oddessey). They do make the big power supply batteries that keep cell towers running and auto/marine batteries.

At one time Sears was rebadging Oddessey batteries and selling them for 2/3s the price of an Oddessey brand. I have one of those. Too bad they are no longer available.

The new Optimas appear to be good again. I was burned a few too many times in the dark years when they first sold out to be comfortable going back. I am no longer calling them junk, but not something that I look for either.

If I had to buy a premium battery today, I would be getting a Northern

Do you or anyone here have experience with a Northern or was this due to their outstanding presentation and their presenters at the show?

Just replaced the original motorcraft battery that was in my 02 F150 with another motorcraft. Hope it lasts as long as the first one did.

Thanks for all the advice it looks as if locally only option is the Orielly brand made by deka or east Penn. So now it really comes down to price, gonna be watching the sales, but if anyone has any big sales they see please post as I will either go get the Orielly Friday or order the battery friday.

Penn is Deka is Douglas is O'Reilly.

Currently O'Reilly has $20 off $125 or more and free shipping if you buy on-line using the code BF2015. (supposed to be for email subscribers but I gave you the code) Good 11/25-11/29. I didn't see an exclusion for Battery but that doesn't mean they will provide free shipping for Batteries. Give it a shot. Or go to a store and see if they'll match it.

Yellow top duralast battery from autozone have been great in all 3 of my old cars and my bronco, no corroded post on any of them and have had em all for several years now! Also had a motorcraft batt last 10 years in my truck.

Old and new yellow top optimas work great for me. The middle ones sucked, seems like they fixed that issue in the past couple of years.
