I have a 302 with a Edelbrock 1405, which i do not like. I am not an experienced carb guy and want to keep things simple until i have the time and money to do a EFI conversion.

I am trying to decide on going back to a 2 BBL 2150 or try another type of carb. It will be my daily driver with about 10 miles of interstate. I have a NP435 with 4.11 gears ( which i am going to change to 3.50 as soon as I find some axles cheap enough)

Do you think a 2bbl would work better or stick with a 4 BBL, if 4, any recommendations?

I do not like the Edelbrock because no amount of tuning seams to get the fuel mixture right. Also from experience I know the edelbrocks suck on inclines. Even though this will be my daily driver I still will hit the trails in it and do not want to stall out all the time.

Find you a Holley 4v they are good on the street and way better than a edelbrock offroad usually you can get them for under $100 sometimes even around $50 try craigslist you'll want to stick with a 600 cfm carb but just be aware it may require a rebuild and tuning as well. just about any carb you run will. If you run a carb it helps to know how to work on it. They are realy not that hard once you understand them. Edlebrock carbs are not that hard to tune but do suck offroad.
Now if you have a 2v carb sitting around you could just get a adapter plate 4v-2v and bolt it on.

If you plan to use it on trails in off camber situations, the only reliable Holley is the Truck Avenger. They are not cheap as suggested above.....for a good trail carb cheap, go with the stock 2 barrel.....they are the next best thing to the Holley TA and cost much less. If tuning is a problem, what ever you do, don't even consider a quadrajet. Good luck!;)

If you have trouble tuning the edelbrock you won't like the holley. They are good if you know holleys and like to play with em. To the rest of us non carb gurus they are a pita. The edelbrock is about the easiest to tune but do suck at angles. I've been running a boneyard q-jet for years with no problems. I grabbed one off the same ci motor and bolted it on.
