Hoping someone has an easy way to remove the old housing studs for the third member on my 9 inch rear and how to install the new ones.

Remove the third member, pound the studs out, insert new ones from the back, pull them in using washers and a nut or put your third member back in and use it instead of washers.

Thanks. Do I need to use anything on the studs to create a seal at the housing?

RTV will seal the studs when you reinstall the 3rd member, if you use RTV. If you use a gasket without RTV, you must use copper washers under the nuts to seal the studs.
